South Carolina is growing fast. To keep up with growing energy demand, we’re proposing a new natural gas plant in Anderson County that will power homes and businesses for generations. We recently had a chance to meet with residents about the project. spr.ly/6011B6rKxf.

Strong wind gusts can bring down trees and power lines and cause outages, and our line and tree crews will work as quickly and safely as possible to restore service as outages occur. We’re closely monitoring weather conditions, and we encourage customers to prepare now, stay weather‑aware, and always avoid downed power lines. news.duke-energy.com/releases/duke-…

Monday brings the greatest threat for severe weather where portions of the area were upgraded to a Moderate risk (level 4 out of 5). The main threats will be damaging to destructive wind gusts and several tornadoes, a few of which could be strong. #caewx #scwx #gawx

In Sumter, grant funding expanded the city’s winter weather response capacity through the purchase of a Salt Dogg spreader. During Fern, the new equipment doubled treatment capacity, enabling crews to manage more than three inches of snowfall across the city. Working alongside the South Carolina Department of Transportation, public works staff treated more than 190 lane miles of roadway using nearly 70 tons of salt. “That level of response would not have been possible without the added capacity provided by the new spreader,” said Richard Pring, director of public works for the City of Sumter. “The investment made a real difference in keeping roads passable and communities connected.” spr.ly/6014B6yePa

“When severe weather impacts communities across our state, we work alongside first responders and understand the challenges they face to restore life back to normal. This year’s HERO grants continue to help fill gaps in storm response identified by severe weather events and help provide additional tools and training to our fellow first responders.” - Tim Pearson, Duke Energy’s South Carolina president spr.ly/6016B6ye6I

Great job, Angie!
Angie Huston@angiewham1969

@DukeEnergySC was proud to be part of the career fair at McAlister Square in Greenville today, hosted by @SCWorksWorkLink! I had the opportunity to connect with 96 customers, sharing information about @DukeEnergy billing programs and energy efficiency resources that can help families better manage their energy use and costs. Some of the most meaningful conversations were with customers who shared how Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) has helped them navigate higher energy bills. Connecting people with real resources that support our communities is what makes events like this so impactful. ⚡️💙

Self-healing technology is on the job even while you sleep, helping avoid outages and restore power faster for @DukeEnergy customers. In 2025, self-healing tech like this equipment in #RaleighNC helped avoid 2.2 million customer outages across our six-state service area.

Duke Energy team members were on Capitol Hill this week to underscore the important role that the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) plays in helping households manage energy costs. We shared how LIHEAP – alongside Duke Energy’s customer assistance and energy efficiency programs – helps protect customers and support communities.

Power restoration and economic development were two of today’s topics of conversation at the @DukeEnergy Regional Advisory Board. Community leaders received great information to take back to the communities about some of the processes we have in place for each.

Thank you to the community members who came out last night to our Meet and Greet about the Anderson combined cycle natural gas project. The casual meet-and-greet event was postponed by Winter Storm Fern and the rescheduled event featured tables with information and graphics with more than two dozen Duke Energy experts and support staff available to answer any questions about the project. Our team appreciated the opportunity to share more about the project to nearby residents and customers. We believe the proposed project is the right resource with the right conceptual design at the right time at the right site. Adding proven new natural gas technology to the electric grid acknowledges and responds to the efforts of state leaders to address tremendous electricity generation needs as part of a reliable and diverse energy mix that includes new and existing nuclear technology, renewables, battery storage, additional natural gas and energy efficiency programs. Learn more about the Anderson County project at duke-energy.com/AndersonEnergy.

Our take: “Extreme cold can increase energy needs at a time when many customers are making tough financial choices,” said Tim Pearson, Duke Energy South Carolina state president. “Supporting our communities through the Share the Light Fund is an important way we can help during the winter months.” spr.ly/6018hHgca
