@DukeHOD4 Interesting findings! We're wondering if you have info on the prevalence of neurological vs. orthopedic conditions! Could an increased prevalence of ortho conditions correlate to increased research? Or is the discrepancy even greater if neuro conditions outweigh ortho? #dudpthod

A quick search on PubMed shows 17,554 results for “Neurologic physical therapy” and 27,684 results for “orthopedic physical therapy” showing a discrepancy in the amount of research available under each specialty.

@DukeHOD4 We couldn't agree more. This is directly in line with our motion and our values. While 1-on-1 care with a PT or qualified care extender is not always feasible, we believe it should be recognized by the APTA as the highest standard of care we can provide to our patients. #dudpthod

Many of the conditions neuro PTs see are very complex. Some patients need a PT to have their hands on them to facilitate movement, and some need more than one! Therefore, it is important that we have one-on-one care to best treat these patients! @DukeHOD7

Finland has done an excellent job in assisting their unhoused population. It's a great success story, though it may not be so feasible in the U.S. All the more reason for the #dudpthod to pass our motion huduser.gov/portal/pdredge…

@DukeHOD2 Administering injections is an interesting thought! We are all for reducing pain and expediting rehab potential though! Another way that can be achieved is through 1-on-1 patient centered care. Do you think injections could be more successful if paired with 1 on 1 care? #dudpthod

@DukeHod3 @DptDuke6HOD We noticed part of value-based care is the pt being at the center. Do you see ways that treating more than one pt at once could take away from that? We believe there should be emphasis on the pt involved above all else! There’s no better way than seeing them 1-on-1! #dudpthod

@DukeHod14 1-on-1 conversations are a vital part of a PTs plan of care. We support not only these conversations, but also the recognition of 1-on-1 care as best practice! This keeps conversations private and the quality of care high! We're in it for the kids! #dudpthod

Conversations on prevention are hard, especially when it comes to the pediatric athlete! Consider not only the child, but parents and coaches too! Physical therapists can help with these conversations to keep the pediatric safe! #dudpthod

@DukeHOD8 Totally understandable! We don’t expect all PT to be entirely 1:1; however, we want it to be the optimal standard of care. The media can help display the benefits of 1:1 care, like building rapport, strong therapist-patient relationships, and increased patient safety. #dudpthod

@DukeHOD7 When advocating for PT to be accurately represented in the media, it seems unrealistic to only show 1:1 care. We definitely see the value in 1:1 care but don't know how to strike the balance of advocating for it while accurately depicting PT as a profession. #dudpthod
