@jreturntoeden @reformedhg If you don’t believe the New then you don’t believe the Old Testament. They are one in unity. The patriarchs of the old looked forward to a messiah revealed in the New. We gentiles/jews who have the New look back to the messiah who was prophecied in the Old.

There are several scriptures speaking of the sufficiency of scripture. All that we need and lack we can be found in the word of God. “and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. I wish someone told me this when I was Muslim. It would have saved me many years of wrestling. I thought accepting Jesus meant betraying Allah and throwing away my devotion. That was the lie that kept me trapped. But the truth is, everything I loved about God - His majesty, holiness, mercy, grace - came alive when I met Him in Christ. God is so glorious and mighty, plus, He wasn’t distant anymore. Still all-powerful, but now with me - near me. My old faith felt like pushing a car with no engine. It moved, but it was exhausting. Jesus didn’t replace the car. He became the engine. Now the same devotion is there, but God sustains it. I’m not carrying it alone. That’s what Christ does. He doesn’t kill your love for God. He breathes on it. He multiplies it. Prayer becomes alive. Fasting goes deeper. Worship becomes relationship. You don’t lose God when you follow Jesus. You finally find Him.

Are you asking this of Catholics also? When I was Catholic, I believed the priest was giving me the authoritative interpretation of Scripture. But as a Protestant pastor, I welcome it when a member of my congregation pushes back on my interpretation. That does not threaten me. It forces me to return to the text, sharpen my argument, and speak with greater clarity.

Do you take your preacher's word for what is in the Bible and what the Bible means?

All are welcome to their own criticism. The only thing I ask is that you put your own life and actions on display , maybe not on a world scale but atleast in the mirror before casting shade on the Donald. What I see is, a man that gave up a lot of freedom, more freedom that most are able to live with due to some financial constraints, he didn’t have that before the presidency. What I see is, a man that is God fearing enough to bring up Christianity, speak about God and not only God but Jesus as savior on multiple occasions. He not only mentioned it at a world scale but also made prayer in the White House a reguler action that grew into a dedication for our country to declare itself a Christian nation once again. Something that many may not realise had been long lost in our country. So next time someone goes to criticism this man for openly sharing the gospel from the whitehouse, ask yourself one thing, when was the last time you had the courage and conviction to share the gospel with one other person in your life, much like in a way that the whole world could see. Thank God for President Donald J Trump and his obedience to God to stand firm in his conviction to lead with an iron fist and humble himself under the name of Jesus our Lord.
