That means the 18 is more of a reference to a specific use, not the formula (ratio) itself. I think I’m too used to applying the formula to specific circumstances and expect it.

@tomdflynn I am genuinely confused by what this guy thinks is happening with super? It's all right there and very simple. Maybe it is just my super that is simple? I am only 40s and have a healthy if lower balance and it all makes sense to me. In fact it used to be far more opaque.

@theinfradev @tomdflynn It makes sense at an individual level because the numbers are given to you. The returns are pooled returns minus costs and profit for the managers of the funds. You don’t get the funds ACTUAL internal working numbers. It’s similar to your bank account.

Because buying existing housing stock and speculating that rents and prices will forever rise a 7% a year will mean a whole generation will never be able to retire. Our retirement system is structured to own your own home and have 600k in super. Every year prices rise faster than 3% makes life worse for every person under 4 that doesn’t own ips. If you want to be successful start a productive business and stop speculating on land values
