Today, our A-level History pupils visited @hevercastle. We took a behind-the-scenes tour of the impending exhibition and met the lovely curator, Kate McCaffrey, who explained about the castle, a role in curating and some context about Anne Boleyn.

Year 12 Tudor historians took part in the @UkNatArchives live webinar with @TracyBorman, who led a session on five Tudor sources and showed students why they were of historical value, how they were stored and led an exercise in analysing Tudor handwriting, palaeography.

Today, pupils studying A-level History have started studying Henry VIII by looking at sources describing him as a new monarch. The almost life-sized model helped them empathise.

Year 8 pupils have been studying the rivalry between Queen Elizabeth I and Mary, Queen of Scots. They designed their own Marian Hanging using symbols to represent the life of Mary, Queen of Scots. Whilst in captivity for 19 years in England, Mary spent a lot of time doing embroidery and the Marian Hanging was a famous example of this.
