Jazz thoughts from Zach: -Thinks Utah wins 50 games next year -"Color me as very excited for the Jazz next season" when Lauri, Keyonte, JJJ, Walker are back -Likes what he's seen from the young guys -He's loved Ace Bailey's rookie season--may bump him to his All-Rookie 1st Team. Complete opposite of all the intel he had heard (didn't want Utah, chucker). He cuts hard and defends hard-chasedown blocks. He will screen, pass, take advantage of mismatches. Ace has shouldered more offensive load with efficiency. "A+ rookie season" -Cody Williams has shown enough to be a functional 8th-10th guy on a good Utah team. Solid defender. Shooting is hit and miss. -Kyle Filipowski-legit good backup big. Very skilled offensively-lots of ability. Very good passer. Defense struggles as a starter, but he won't start. Rotational player for next year's Jazz team -He's fascinated with Brice Sensabaugh-one of his white whales. So smooth when he's having a great game. Can score in so many ways. Do the coaches hate him? Over dribbly + tunnel vision. More decisive this season offensively. Not a starter, but can be a rotation player on a good team. -They have a 99.4% chance of keeping their pick and will get another interesting building block. -the Jazz are playing more real basketball than the Wizards -Nuggets really struggled defensively vs. the Jazz. Jazz scored easily inside.

Utah got Jaren w/o having to give up any of Keyonte/Ace/Flip, still have Brice/Collier depending on your belief in them. Could consolidate again in the summer if they want.

I genuinely don't even know how to feel about this trade. I can see pros and cons for both sides of it.

Utah trading for Jaren Jackson Jr. eliminates their 2026 cap space, assuming they re-sign Walker Kessler. There isn't an attainable free agent better than Jackson Jr. this summer, so the Jazz use up their cap flexibility in a big move now.

That's not ideal.
