@AlbertBreer Football tears up natural grass. Soccer stadiums don’t even let the NFL play on their surfaces. Very difficult to maintain.

The turf thing is easy to explain ... • Cost of stadiums EXPLODED. NRG opened in 2002 at a cost of $352 million ... Lucas Oil opened in 2008 for $732M ... MetLife in 2010 at $1.6B ... and so on. • To justify stadium costs, owners increasingly jammed more events in them. • Grass is difficult to maintain if you're putting a million events in the stadiums. • Turf is easier and cheaper. • More teams do it, it becomes normalized, so then others, like the Panthers and Titans, take advantage of that to save money. And here we are. Reality is, even if you set the safety issue aside, players hate the way they feel coming off playing on it. There's a reason why 32 out of 32 teams practice on grass, even when they're preparing to play for a game on turf. It'll be interesting to see where this goes from here.
NFLPA@NFLPA

The 2026 FIFA World Cup kicks off in one month, and work is underway to install fresh grass surfaces in NFL stadiums for the world's top soccer players. NFL players have spent years advocating for safer, high-quality grass fields at their place of work, but when the World Cup is over, most of these stadiums will revert back to turf for the NFL season. Our players deserve workplaces that prioritize their preference, protect them against the weekly wear and tear of the game, and support their long-term health and performance. @AlbertBreer Retractable single team dome stadiums would be the answer.

@DanSchneierNFL Football and soccer aren’t even played on the same grass. Far easier to maintain for soccer.

Billions in annual revenue — they can afford it. They don’t have to do it. But they can afford to do it. And they should. All teams should get on board with this. It’s better for the product, for the fans but more importantly for the human beings putting their bodies on the line

@DanSchneierNFL It’s more about the upkeep of natural grass. Would be very difficult to pull off in two team stadiums. It’s hard enough for one team. Everyone would like grass, but it’s easier said than done.

@Durango__Z @ModerateNGood @GiantsNationPod No it doesn't, every team in the NFL should be doing what the eagles do. Even if it comes due maybe one year down the line you push it off to a reload/rebuild year and in the meantime for the previous decade you competed for super bowls, kept any star you wanted, ect

@ModerateNGood @GiantsNationPod Because the bill comes due eventually. Makes it harder to move on from bad contracts or players that ask for trades.

If the Dex trade didn't happen, was it ever confirmed what NYG would done if the board fell the way it did & they stayed at #5? Would they have taken Reese due to board value or picked Mauigoa for value & need?

The #Eagles make it official on Adam Berry as new assistant GM in announcing a bunch of new titles and hires. In here, former #Jets GM Mike Maccagnan comes aboard to lend expertise to some younger scouts who will be on the road.
