My ranking of seasons: 1. Spring 2. Winter 3. Summer 4. Fall All are good, but Spring is the most good and Fall is the least good.

If I had high conscientiousness I’d be a force to reckon with. But instead I’ll just enjoy the *thinking* part over the *doing* part.

I think I'm most comfortable as an expat because I grew up as a diaspora Jew. They're really the same thing.

One thing I find interesting and odd: Hasan Piker and other socialist influencers often praise the Chinese Communist Party. However, the CCP is fiercely and explicitly critical of “welfarism,” criticism that has intensified under Xi Jinping. The party’s opposition isn’t about a commitment to fiscal discipline; it’s a core part of their developmental philosophy. Xi has specifically cited the experiences of populist Latin American countries as a cautionary tale. He argues that high welfare spending “exceeds national capabilities,” overwhelms finances, and leads to the “middle-income trap.” There is a strong ideological belief within the current leadership that guaranteed benefits sap national “dynamism.” The CCP prefers a model where “happiness is achieved through hard work,” viewing the purpose of the state as providing the opportunity to work (infrastructure, education) rather than direct financial support. And while Xi’s “Common Prosperity” campaign sounds like a redistributive welfare push, the official rhetoric clarifies that it is not egalitarianism. Government officials have stated that “Common Prosperity is not ‘lying flat’” and must avoid the “trap of welfarism.” (Though I’m hardly a partisan of unlimited welfarism, even I think Xi takes anti-welfarism too far.) Piker, of course, is an attention-seeking troll. But he’s now campaigning alongside prominent democratic socialists in contested Democratic primaries, so it would be foolish to dismiss him as marginal or irrelevant. (Classic Scandinavian social democracy also has an anti-welfarist streak: benefits are often more strictly tied to job-seeking than in the U.S.; there is a heavy emphasis on active labor market policies; early thinkers explicitly critiqued unconditional welfare as demeaning and bourgeois.) Neosocialist welfarism is a mishmash of tech-utopianism (fully automated luxury communism), post-Occupy anti-work vibes, and lower-upper-class angst, built to capture attention. It doesn’t have to work (be coherent, offer an achievable program) to work (gain mind share).

That tweet about Urdu going viral is incorrect and I disagree with its basic premise. However all publicity is good publicity. Even the people dunking on her now know that there is a language called Urdu and apparently it’s very beautiful.

“Manifesting” didn’t bring food to children that starved to death. “Evil eye” hasn’t destroyed or hampered all celebrities and politicians.

I took this free online Big 5 Personality test a few minutes ago. No surprises. Same results I always get: Super-high openness, high conscientiousness, and low in every thing else. And of course INTJ. You can take it here: programs.clearerthinking.org/personality-te…

urdu has a word for the pain of separation that contains, within it, the assumption that reunion is cosmically possible. while english is so spiritually bankrupt it can name the ache but not imagine its end.

Irans military capabilities are severely degraded, their population is far more rebellious towards the regime, most nations in the neighbourhood have completely soured their relationship with Iran. Iran unleashed their proxies after the deal, and in this scenario they are completely constrained.

I opened Pandora’s box and found nothing! No purpose, no meaning just a plain pointless empty void. Ah ha! So the horror I unleashed was nihilism! Or maybe I shouldn’t have bought it off of Temu.
