I’m engaging with this engagement slop but age gaps just aren’t that common, especially in heterosexual relationships. When they do happen, especially in the formulation below, it’s very wealthy men and a socially precocious woman (often she’s also from a background where she was exposed to the upper class and wants that). In normal life though it’s not that common, we don’t need to talk about it that much. People enjoy talking about it whether it’s to critique it or praise it because it’s a social aberration in our current society so it’s taboo, not because this is a widespread problem we have to really contend with as a culture. Most people just marry and date people roughly their age.

@TwinkTheory I don't think it's a problem (if everyone is of age etc) but I find it *hilarious* that anyone would think a 19-year-old woman would find a 38-year-old man attractive unless he was a movie star or something.

I don’t know why I get so much hate on here. I certainly used to troll and be mean years and years ago but for a long time now I’ve tried to do my little jokes and cultural analysis and people still get insanely cruel. I’d never attack someone’s character based on their Twitter at this point but I will say people really show who they are when they do that.
