@zebe66 @SushMiles I think that when OP talks about “reason,” she/he is referring to the character's internal justification Pochita knew it wasn't moral to kill an innocent person, but did it anyway, while Makima believed her crimes were justified because, in her view, the end justifies the means

@LucasPOV24 @1savK @Lumtari 1) What Eric Cartman did was worse than this imo 2) In terms of intent, Makima did it thinking she could create a utopia, while Cartman did it because of some scam (like a $10 scam IIRC) and to prove that he was the MOST EVIL I don't get how you think the two are comparable

@mreowkima That's why I think “how unpleasant” is a better translation, but “I find you disagreeable” is also a valid interpretation By the way, that same line is a famous quote from Mirai in Beyond the Boundary, and it's most often translated as “how unpleasant" youtu.be/w8h3V9QWe7E

@mreowkima She just says "Fuyukai desu" The thing is, Japanese is a “pro-drop” language where you can omit things if the context makes it obvious. The problem is that the subjects aren't obvious here, because Makima mentions his appearance and words just before rather than himself

something i really like about this translation is how it conveys her hatred. in the english translation she says "i find you disagreeable." while here she says "you disgust me." i think it captures her feelings really well

@mreowkima In Japanese, Makima isn't necessarily addressing Denji she just says "不愉快です" (Fuyukai desu) which would rather translate as "How unpleasant" or "This is disagreeable" (more litteral) She is rather talking about the situation

@_Tsuj1_ @02Dvst8 @jojoslyfe21 Yes, there are a lot of problems In a world without Pochita, Denji would have been killed by the yakuza long before he reached his teens (or he would have escaped but would no longer have any ties to the yakuza)

@02Dvst8 @jojoslyfe21 You can't have both Nayuta an incarnation that appeared post chapter 1 and Power an incarnation pre chapter 1. He's picking which devils appear at which stage of their cycle based on who we care about even if that breaks the narrative and the rules of his own world

@mkmcsm Above all, it makes no sense from a narrative standpoint If Pochita did indeed perform a time reset (which he shouldn't be capable of doing), then the “alternate Makima” could never have remembered Pochita because he never existed in that timeline

i hate the narrative people said that mkm’s only purpose was because chainsaw man was alive. it was like 2021 all over again when the fandom reduced her to one exaggerated trait

.@GabrielSaidR is a doofus. He says the Quran refuting the muhsrikun for worshipping Lat, Manat, and Uzza could be a "literary motiphe" and that maybe no such pagans actually existed 😂😂. He only says this cuz it destroys the entire hypothesis of his book 🤣 Goofy ass clown.

@Dre09134 @Stephen_Fremel @Ichigo_WD It's even simpler than that, the translation is off (and it's not the first time in part 1) Makima said : " 消えてしまった名前を思い出せなくなりました " It would rather translate as "I have become unable to remember the names that have disappeared" @Stephen_Fremel

@Stephen_Fremel @Ichigo_WD Dood you are literally contradicting yourself. You claim to be a “critical thinker” then you basically say “don’t think too deep to excuse a plot hole”. And Makima literally said “even with my power to control everything” before she said what you quoted which means she and the ot

This is not character development. A character develops when they DECIDE to make different choices. Pochita erasing himself and Denji stopping Asa from falling were things completely out of her control. Asa didn't develop. Her circumstances simply magically changed.

Dannyさん@danny_saaan

The concept that Asa lost character development because of the world reset is flawed. Her entire story revolves around carrying guilt that isn't hers and clinging to a reason to live because of it. Her savior complex was harming herself

@Ichigo_WD @Stephen_Fremel It’s gotten to the point where I think the best interpretation is that the whole ending is a lie/dream, but that’s also inconsistent, lol

@Ichigo_WD @Stephen_Fremel To me, this is the craziest part of this unfortunate chapter, and I think we need to talk about it even more. Fujimoto literally went OUT OF HIS WAY to explain that Pochita's power doesn't alter the consequences of past actions in ALL SORTS OF WAY, he can't have forgotten that

@DxcSmurf @BirdYoru It's the same reason Makima admires Chainsaw Man so much. She sees him as strong, chaotic and fearless. She wanted to erase the things humanity fears the most to make them less fearful, meaning that her relationships would no longer be based in fear.
