@rreecemd In the hospital, Physician wld call/make referral to social Work Dept. In UR office you cld have your Rn, Secretary, Appt clerk, Office manager call DSS & make a referral. Most dss have prog. 18-64, 64 up, help w/med care, food stamp, therapy, getting other resources to help.

Physician practices and hospitals don’t routinely screen for or address social needs - hunger, poverty, housing, transportation, domestic violence - all related to health, because of paperwork involved. Should they? Or is this the domain of social workers?
