NEW: A league source tells me this morning that the #Eagles and #Patriots have recently “grappled” over the component of the total trade compensation for AJ Brown that could involve a “swapping of picks.” With that said, over the last 7 days, my sense from -various conversations- is that New England is still casting good confidence a Brown trade will get done. But just to share a bit of the mental twisting that is always needling until a trade becomes officially executed, a league source also added this: “This is still Howie Roseman we are talking about and everyone’s still gonna hold all of their cards up until the start of June. So yes, a concern always gets floated here & there in these things that someone would swoop in at the last minute, and it would be a deal that Philly couldn’t refuse.” But in the meantime, Patriots-Eagles trade talks still motor on until ink is dry.

@yinzer_g Low key feels like the qb competition is between Mason and Will, rogers and allar are locks. Think they just want to see if Will or Mason has the better backup potential.

What we learned about the Steelers QBs after the OTAs: 1. Rodgers still has that zip in his arm and is working out some terminology with McCarthy. He is the unquestioned leader. 2. Howard has the weakest arm of the 4, but it seems like he is going to get every opportunity in the preseason games to make this team and possibly be the primary backup if he can translate what he has learned from Rodgers last season and McCarthy this season to capable play. 3. Rudolph is the savvy vet who is getting the first real QB training of his career. He is the only backup with experience and has been a proven winner. Will it translate into a roster spot? That will most likely be determined by how Howard and Allar perform, unless the Steelers keep all 4. 4. Allar has the strongest arm of the 4. Shockingly even stronger than Rodgers. But that is about all that has been positive so far for him. He needs a complete rebuild mechanically, mainly with his footwork. He was extremely inaccurate all OTA. He has the longest road to be ready to see the field and this season is most likely going to be a redshirt season for him.

From a Steelers perspective this means landing a top prospect on the OLine and at receiver. Id certainly do that deal
