Effects of abusive speech in a relationship:
People often think abuse is only physical.
But words can damage a person in ways you can’t see.
Constant insults, shouting, belittling, and harsh criticism don’t just hurt in the moment, they slowly change how a person sees themselves.
You start to doubt your worth.
You overthink everything you say.
You become quieter, not because you have nothing to say, but because you’re afraid of being attacked again.
Over time, confidence disappears.
Self-esteem drops.
You begin to feel like you’re never “good enough,” no matter how hard you try.
That’s how emotional abuse works, it doesn’t break bones, it breaks identity.
And the scary part?
Many people normalize it because “at least he/she didn’t hit me.”
But peace of mind is not too much to ask for.
A healthy relationship should feel safe, not like a constant battle.
Let’s be honest:
Do you think people take verbal abuse seriously enough?
