Safety in Construction: Stakeholders from academia, industry, and policy professionals in engineering met with the Board to develop a curriculum on Safety Skills for Engineers and Practitioners in Kenya's construction industry. Less than 1% of project funding is allocated to safety practices in construction. The programme marks a milestone following baseline surveys and analyses conducted through academia, awareness initiatives, and multiple consultations across the construction sector in partnership with Lords Register Foundation (LRF). speaking at the workshop, Registrar/CEO Eng. Magaret Ogai remarked that Africa still lacks robust safety capabilities and is in urgent need of support in construction safety, expressing optimism about a regional programme addressing this issue. “Let us develop and shape a safety curriculum framework while recognising we are working for one government." The curriculum aims to instill a safety culture in engineering students upon graduation and to target practitioners across the built environment, including both technical and non-technical experts. @
