East Brunswick English Department, Grades 8-12

I don't want this to end, but time is almost up! One last thing I want us all remember is that "Nothing changes if nothing changes" #ebedchat

Q4: “...the reliable presence of at least one supportive adult relationship and multiple opportunities for developing effective coping strategies ... are the essential building blocks for strengthening the capacity to do well in the face of adversity.” #ebedchat

A3: This is something I struggle with. It’s a balancing act that’s in constant flux. As we reflect on our curriculum, it’s crucial to identify our non-negotiable skills so we are better prepared to meet Ss where they are while still preparing them for what’s next. #EBedchat

Here we go! Let’s start by introducing yourself. Remember to use the Q1/A1 format and include #EBedchat in your responses!

Q2: So excited to see so many of you here! George Scott really got me thinking. One thing is “Children who have been traumatized, or have lived in chaotic circumstances, ‘need to be in environments that restore their sense of safety, control, and predictability…’”#ebedchat

We have great participation from some schools and none from others. I challenge each of us to encourage a colleague from another school or Department to join us on June 8 for our next #EBedchat.

I think the use of technology is an extremely personal decision. You must feel confident with the tech you are using - and the best way is to watch another colleague use it well. I think popping in on colleagues' lessons has shown me uses for tech I hadn't considered #EBedchat twitter.com/MsSpinato/stat…

A1: Close-reading analytical discussions using @padlet! Not only do the Ss feel more confident having online discussions, but it then becomes a resource they can use when writing lit analysis essays! #EBedchat twitter.com/msspinato/stat…
