There are a lot of issues with Joe Kent's resignation letter but this line—especially—makes no sense. "In your first administration, you understood better than any modern President how to decisively apply military power without getting us drawn into never-ending wars. You demonstrated this by killing Qasem Soleimani and by defeating ISIS." "Never-ending wars" ? When Kent released this letter, it had been 17 days since we struck Iran. What makes this a forever war? Whether you wanted President Trump to engage in military intervention in Iran or not, we are all against forever wars. Look at President Trump's second term. Any military action has been limited intervention, every single time. In Operation Rough Rider against the Houthis in March-May 2025, we struck the terrorist group for 7 weeks and it was over. In Operation Midnight Hammer in June 2025, Panicans were freaking out about Trump striking Iran's nuclear facilities. They were telling us that Trump started World War 3. Trump ended that war in 12 days. In Operation Absolute Resolve in January 2026, President Trump deposed Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro and extradited him to the United States in a matter of hours. On Friday, President Trump issued a statement saying in part, "We are getting very close to meeting our objectives as we consider winding down our great Military efforts in the Middle East with respect to the Terrorist Regime of Iran..." So no, I don't buy Kent's line about resigning over Trump drawing us into "never-ending wars" for a second.

Tiffany it is historical fact President FDR knew the Japanese were going to attack days before they did and allowed it to happen by giving no warning to the forces stationed at Pearl Harbor. Knowing full well the American public would demand action, so the US could "legitimately" enter into the war. Additionally, the reason the Japanese attacked was because the US was waging economic warfare against Japan. The US under FDR knew this would provoke a reaction, which is exacty what he wanted.
