@Mr_Oldfield Got access to GPTV and Dall E today. It is woah crazy good. People still aren't paying attention.

@Mr_Oldfield My understanding is yes, basically. Outside of Google, the other LLMs just aren't as available (or good). For all of the recent pop-ups, I'd put money on OpenAI.

Do most of the edu Ai tools use ChatGPT as their LLM in the background? Because of the API access? Just curious.

@Mr_Oldfield They both have to be open for anything to update, but that's no big deal. 🙂

= and copy cells from other workbook, press enter. It was easier than I thought! And it appears to work with workbooks saved in Onedrive.

What is the best way to data link multiple spreadsheets to one master sheet? When the individuals get updated, the master is also updated? #MIEExpert #Excel

@Mr_Oldfield @john_carper3 @EmAre459 @shelbywglover It comes down to the types of prompts we want students to respond to. Multiple choice is great for recall, etc., but it lacks contextuality. In every subject area, students need to write and explain. I'd file these tools under time savers for emergencies or newbies for now.

This had me pondering the best prompts for students. I have a lot of room to grow here. Is there more to gain from using chatPDF vs actually reading the article? I think the worst case scenario may be - yes. @EDUMeadows @john_carper3 @EmAre459 @shelbywglover

@Mr_Oldfield I have literal dystopian nightmares of gyms full of kids being taught by AI while "teachers" monitor.

@EDUMeadows It's concerning. And I say that as a fan of the tech. I know this, that tech is better than a revolving door of subs that start, quit, start, quit, start, quit. It's better than other Ts on the team printing a stack of worksheets for a class with no T or sub. #bcsprobs

Khan Academy's Khanmigo is currently a 1:1 intelligent learning guide. How long before we see a learning guide that works 4:1 in small groups? Where's the threshold for this technology? Khanmigo would already replace a bad teacher (arguably many tools could), but can ...

it replace an average teacher? Will this technology get good enough that society will turn to it as a means of addressing teacher shortages? Instead of improving salaries, reducing class sizes, etc. will see we see more blends of larger class sizes with AI tutors or assistants?

@Mr_Oldfield I'd avoid for a while yet. The API becomes $$, and it tends to get stuck in bizarre looping.

clevername.blog/2023/04/18/stu… I didn't necessarily intend to write a negative post about teaching. I don't want to think of it as negative -- I'm concerned. I'm hopeful! But, sometimes, the profession gets in the way.

@Mr_Oldfield Yeah, I have always really digged their perspective. I just hope some of these changes serve as a catalyst to really examine what education *is* in America. There's just no political will to confront these issues; we're too mired in banning books still. 🙄

@EDUMeadows As AI gets better and better, I see the risk as well. Sal's original vision was free world-class education for anyone everywhere. I still feel those w/o a quality teacher present will have a significantly different experience than a homeschooler w/internet connection only.

@Mr_Oldfield Yeah, the current curriculum providers are about to get absolutely roasted. I'm here for it. 😁

@EDUMeadows Yea, I think it'll come soon. Won't be the path that we're using now. I watched a demo of Khan Academy's AI tutor. It's really good. It's finally an advantage to have access to all 3 ecosystems haha. One will win the race.

There is SO much disruption right now due to AI. Name a function that your textbook software provides that gpt4 can't provide? I think there are some, but they're shrinking.
