@homelesshub I am doing a project for my EM203 course and am wondering your thoughts on the largest cause of homelessness in youth and why this is increasing so rapidly?

"While the language of homelessness prevention is sometimes used in policy circles in Canada, it is rarely well conceptualized and in practice has not been a priority in most jurisdictions." This #prevention framework was designed to help w/ this ▶︎ bit.ly/2T56aCL

Unfortunately, the demographic that is growing the fastest of the homeless population is the youth sector. This is caused by a number of factors, and with help in communities, Youth Homelessness and homelessness as a whole can be eliminated! #EM203Mueller

@neli_rowland Hi @neli_rowland ! Over the past couple months I have been researching Homelessness, more specifically root causes of youth homelessness for my EM203 course at Laurier! I am interested in your research and thoughts on this topic?

Through federal and provincial government investments into housing and support systems, along with the investment in proper care givers within these facilities, Homelessness can be reduced significantly! #em203mueller

Homelessness is a huge issue in North America, and NYC has proven ways of diminishing the amount of Homelessness with the implementation of support systems and shelters to assist those dealing with this issue. Proven Solutions - Coalition For The Homeless coalitionforthehomeless.org/ending-homeles…

@EM203Goodfellow Hi Emily! Really liked how your concept map provided insight into homelessness. One problem you could explore is if mental illnesses are a byproduct of being homeless, or whether or not people with a mental illness are more likely to be homeless.

@Em203Mulhall Hi Sean, I think Climate Change is an important topic to explore in the world these days. Maybe looking further into manmade vs natural causes of global warming could allow us to distinguish between what is controllable and what isn't so much #EM203Problems

@Em203Muhammad Hi Muhammad. I like how you chose sports statistics. Further explorting problems in the different sports and related injuries would be interesting to look at - maybe the number of injuries in some sports might surprise you #EM203Problems

@EM203MPanzarino Hi Michael. Exploring further the idea of online access to education around the world would be relevant to the course we are taking making it useful. Maybe looking at the percentage of the world that has easy access and the pros and cons to it #EM203Problems

@EM203DVyriotes Hi Dina! With your concept map of the environment, maybe you could look further into the problem of deforestation and what places have and do not have movements put in place to prevent deforestation. #EM203problems

@EM203MKhurram Thanks for this Maheen. That totally makes sense that you grew up used to a lot of loud noise in the background allowing you to remember words in List A. This is a good skill as we are not always given complete silence and have to deal with our surroundings.

@mc203laurier This is interesting that you were able to focus on memorizing the words in List A with music on. I am the opposite, my best way to study is in complete silence to focus in on what I am reading and thinking it through.

In the experiment I did not find list A very challenging as I usually listen to music while studying. I also have many playlists to choose from! I find that this class is very interesting, using social media to learn is awesome. #em203mueller

@EM203MeganLee Thanks for sharing Megan. The different learning theories were interesting to read about and apply that to our own lives and situations where we use learning theories and which ones apply the best!

@em203blackmore I was the same way, I used to think a little bit of background music would help however I have realized that music helps me focus when it comes to copying notes, or doing math however when it comes to memorizing information, music doesnt help.

I did not realize the impact that listening to music or texting have on my memory retention! I thought background noise was beneficial for my studying and attempting to memorize theories, now I know for next exam season to cut out the music! #EM203Mueller #Week3Multitasking

@EM203DVyriotes Thanks for sharing Dina, that is great that you are able to focus on your task while listening to some background music. Not everyone typically can do this however, for some people, listening to music helps them focus.
