Just completed Week 3 Multitasking task! I remembered more words from list A with subtle distractions - I find I always learn better with background music, noise or TV! #EM203Mueller #week3multitasking

In week three of EM203 we learned about how much of a negative impact multitasking has when it comes to learning. When reading list A I was able to recall only 5 words, where as with list B I was able to recall 11. #em203mueller #week3multitasking

Week 3 has shown me the significantly negative impact that multitasking has on my memory and learning. Listening to music and watching TV immensely impacted my ability to recall the words in list A versus list B with no distractions. #EM203Mueller #Week3multitasking

I always thought that it would be super easy to complete this task. But, when I cut out the distractions I did so much better. I also realized that I need to take things slow when learning #EM203Mueller #week3multitasking

I've learned a lot about my unique learning style in this course... just as I assumed - playing music while memorizing is not an effective strategy for me. I should stick to a quiet study environment with no distractions #EM203Mueller #week3multitasking

I was able to remember way more words when reading List B with no music. When trying to recall the words in List A, all I could remember was the song that was playing while I read them! #EM203Mueller #week3multitasking

I was able to recall more than double the amount of words without any distractions! This activity taught me that listening to music while studying is counterproductive. #em203mueller #week3multitasking

I remembered 8 words from list A and 7 from list B. I tend to remember things better when I have something going on in the background. I am able to recall the words from my memory as I remember what I was doing when I first encountered the words. #week3multitasking #EM203Mueller

I remembered 7 words from list A and I remembered 9 words from list B. This is because I was not multitasking when I was trying to learn list B, making it easier to remember the words. #week3multitasking #EM203Mueller

Recalled 6 words correctly from list A, I got one wrong - "Honk" instead of other H words such as Hold or Horse. List B I recalled 8 words correctly with no errors. I recalled more when I was not #week3multitasking. I need to minimize distractions to do better #EM203Mueller

When I attempted to memorize the words with distractions I could only get 5. On list B I was more focused and over doubled my score with 11. I should study in the library more often as there are less distractions. #em203mueller #week3multitasking

Wow!Just completed the multitasking experiment, when I turned off my music and actually took the time to focus I was able to recall 3x more words. Now I know for exam szn maybe to stick with calming background noise instead of listening to Top 100 #week3multitasking #EM203Mueller

After reading list B with no distractions, I recalled 9 words. When I read list A, I was only able to recall 5 words. Not surprised as i have always been a more effective studier in rooms with a minimal number of distractions. Fun experiment. #EM203Mueller #week3multitasking

Remembered twice as many words from List B as List A - all I could remember with List A was the lyrics from the music playing! Definitely not a music while studying person. #EM203Mueller #week3multitasking

From list A, I recalled 9 words. From list B , I remembered 11 words. I believe the difference in my ability to recall information with or without distractions is not significant because I am used to completing my work with music! #EM203Mueller #week3multitasking
