@JamaalBowmanNY Why do we keep relying on standardized tests when they consistently fail to reflect student growth, creativity, or real-world skills? Curious to hear from yourself or other educators and researchers on your take?

@JamaalBowmanNY I'm doing research on why standardized testing especially in early education may hinder students learning. I was hoping to get a professionals opinion on if you think we should change the curriculum?

Lack of accessible healthy lifestyle education leads to poor health behaviors and preventable diseases. Looking at the disparity within health lifestyle education across Canada (eg. geographically, racially, economically, etc.) @Em203MJia #EM203problems

With teacher shortages on the rise students will fall behind - Supply teachers will have to step in and it may make teaching difficult if the supply doesn't understand the curriculum that's needing to be taught, leading students to fall behind. @EM203Areingold #EM203problems

Rural communities who lack nurses, doctors and staff are shutting down emergency rooms in the area for months at a time - In an emergency ambulances as well as people with illness need to drive an hour away to get help.@Em203MJia #EM203problems

I'm really enjoying EM 203 so far. In the 3 weeks, we’ve looked at how digital learning works and what kind of learners we are. I found the learning theories super interesting; learning about cognitivism made me think more about how I process and retain information. #EM203Robin

@EM203EmmaD I also found the first lesson to be very interesting! I find fascinating how even if we are digital native's we still may not be digitally literate.

I find it especially interesting learning about the first lesson of this course and how technology changes the way we learn and is a response to societal problems. I find it fascinating how media has evolved over time and wonder. #EM203Robin

@EM203enewman Very brave, I've personally attempted seemingly easy crosswords and fail every time!

The past 3 lessons of this class have been nothing but insightful. I have leaned how various aspects of our lives connect back to the digital age, and how we as a society are all connected digitally-which is a beautiful, yet scary thing. #EM203Robin

@EM203SZSWang Yes I totally agree! There are always new things to learn and different ways to do it, which is great for different learning styles.

Wrapping up the first 3 weeks of #EM203Robin, it's been a completely different learning experience. It made me reflect on how we learn in the digital age. From mutitasking to digital tools, I've realize that learning isn't a one-size-fits-all, it's a constantly evolving process.

In the first lesson I learned A 2013 MediaSmarts survey showed that while Canadian youth are constantly connected online, most still choose to go offline for real-life connections. Being a “digital native” doesn’t always mean being digitally creative. #EM203Robin
