Since March 2020 Canada has seen a dramatic increase in federal spending, resulting in a historically high federal deficit. A large potion of this can be attributed to relief spending such as CERB. Will CERB be the reason why Canada struggles to recover in the future? #EM203Robin

Hi @Bill_Morneau! I am working on a university assignment for #EM203Robin on the impacts of COVID-19 on the federal deficit. I was wondering if you had any additional insight on this issue or how the federal government plans to reduce the impact of it in the short term? Thanks!

Hey @EM203ASooch, great concept map on health! One issue you could expand on is resources. Some people struggle with maintaining both their physical and mental health as they do not have the proper support in their lives to assist their health journey. #EM203problems

Hey @em203kmoran ! Great concept map on education, one issue you could add under resources is physical health. Unfortunately some people grow up in environments that do not teach them about the importance of physical health therefore schools should offer this. #EM203problems

@EM203KFrederick Hi Karlee, I agree! I believe that COVID-19 has launched learning in the digital age way ahead by forcing us to change the method of instruction in an attempt to not sacrifice the personal aspect of in-class instruction.

This course taught me some ways that we learn in a digital age. Technology has created a huge impact on learning by shifting the focus from individual to collaborative learning and changing the methods of instruction by utilizing new learning tools. #EM203Robin

@ElizabethEM203 Hi Elizabeth, I agree! Although some people believe nothing good can be learned through social media, platforms such as Twitter nowadays are a great resource to learn from people we have no other way of connecting with!

@Em203CaitK Hi Cait, great post! I definitely see the importance of constructivism especially in a course like this as it is completed asynchronously therefore, the majority of it is self directed.

In the past three weeks, I have gained a better understanding of various learning theories. More specifically, constructivism is an interesting learning approach in which a majority of the teaching process is self-directed. #EM203Robin

@Daniellek203 Hi Danielle, great post! I completely agree with the importance of understanding the learning theories. In order to successfully learn in our current environment we truly need to understand how we individually learn best.

The first few classes of EM203 have been very interesting. Learning about the different learning theories in the digital age has been very educational and I feel like it is very important to be learning this in light of our new reality of online learning. #EM203Robin

@EM203etaimizra1 I completely agree with the importance of understanding your learning style in order learn effectively. As mentioned in the TED talk for this week, asynchronous learning also allows us to focus on the areas that we struggle more to ensure we know it fully.

Within the first three weeks of the course I have greatly improved my understanding of learning in the digital age. Technology is continuously changing at an unprecedented pace, therefore our learning also has to change in order to deal with many more distractions. #EM203Robin
