Seems currently relevant in setting of SEC considering a "break away"/silo...
They have the lowest % of "aligned" fans (meaning their favorite CFB team is the same school as their favorite MBB team... "non-aligned" people may like like Bama FB but Duke MBB, or Notre Dame FB & UConn MBB, or Oregon FB & Gonzaga MBB)
These are also the kind of fans that are more "casual" and more likely to jump off the bandwagon once a team comes down from their place of dominance...

Never forget @KStateMBB coaching staff asked me to talk to their big freshman from small town St. John, Kansas. He was stretching before a game, and I said to him, “I don’t think you know how good you are.” We joked that the closest McDonald’s to his hometown was 26 miles away in Pratt, Kansas. He had a good Wildcats career, but I did not see this coming. Congrats, @cavs @deanwade3232

Dead serious, I’d have a genuine interest in watching a team made of legitimate students who happen to be good at football.
Zero financial aid for them, zero recruiting, just hold an open tryout every year.
Only play area schools, maybe a 7 game schedule.
Revert to 1905.

I’m a little surprised by the reaction to this by many, K-State has underachieved this year and needs to find a way to balance out the roster better for sure. However, Pete Hughes has had K-State on the doorstep of making a regional (or has made one) way more often than he’s had a season like this one at a school that only had 4 regionals in school history before he took over.

@jlkurtz I wrestled with the same dilemma with this morning’s DD. I don’t like a CFP at 24, but siding with the SEC and ESPN is unpalatable. They obviously see how this would benefit college football as a whole more than it helps the SEC.
