Edmonton police are investigating a suspicious fire at this home searched earlier this month in relation to missing 14-year-old Samuel Bird, who hasn’t been seen since June 1st. The fire in the Canora neighbourhood was reported shortly before 5 a.m., no injuries were reported.

Samuel Bird is 14 years old and is missing and presumed murdered, his Mom was sent graphic and gruesome videos of people allegedly assaulting the young man. Where is your rage @PierrePoilievre? Samuel lived only 60 km from Battle River-Crowfoot. And yet you say nothing.

I have a very hard time believing it was only 150,000 children. From millions in population to the decimations that occurred on these lands. What would you be feeling today? 🪶

Every single unmarked grave on the grounds of residential schools is a secret that Canada hid for decades. A deliberately kept secret of colonial crimes against humanity. Indigenous people. Many of us are alive who remember these days and the history is not a far off written one. It lives on in us. Their strength and honor, and the trauma🪶💔

And inciting that hate is a full time effort towards assimilation. It silences, it destroys. Appropriators will use it too, bending to the denialism that is prevalent on our lands. We know what happened, it was not several lifetimes ago, it was in our lifetime. We remember. And for those who didn't come home and those whose tiny broken hearts and all of that fear and pain, we honor you today. 🪶
