Mohammad Taghavi and Akbar Daneshvarkar, members of the PMOI/MEK, were executed this morning by the executioners of Iran’s religious dictatorship. We salute the two heroes for their unwavering resilience—having endured prolonged torture and pressure, they remained faithful to their pledge to secure freedom for the Iranian people. Gripped by fear of a popular uprising, the faltering clerical regime is desperately attempting, through the execution of these steadfast fighters, to delay the inevitable eruption of the people’s anger. Yet this brutality will only deepen the resolve of Iran’s brave and defiant youth, as well as the fighters of the Liberation Army, in their struggle for freedom. The clerical regime is attempting to exploit the external war to cover up its deep and unresolved internal crises. However, it cannot escape its inevitable overthrow by the people and the organized resistance. I urge the United Nations and its member states to firmly condemn this brutal crime and to take immediate action to save other political prisoners facing execution. The time has come for practical and effective measures. The inaction of the international community has only emboldened this bloodthirsty regime to commit further crimes and executions.

Breaking: Iran's regime has executed political prisoners and PMOI members Mohammad Taghavi and Ali Akbar (Shahrokh) Daneshvarkar this morning, as announced by the IRGC-affiliated Tasnim News Agency. Ali Akbar (Shahrokh) Daneshvarkar, 59, a civil engineer, was arrested in January 2024. Mohammad Taghavi, 59, was a political prisoner in the 1980s and 1990s. He was previously arrested in 2020 and served three years in prison on charges of having ties with the PMOI. They were first sentenced to death on November 30, 2024, by the regime's criminal judge Iman Afshari along with four other PMOI political prisoners. The retrial of these six prisoners was held on November 16, 2025, at Branch 26 of Tehran’s so-called Revolutionary Court. Afshari ignored the lawyers’ insistence that their clients be tried together in a single case. Instead, he held separate hearings for each of them, with each session lasting only a few minutes. On Sunday, December 7, 2025, the Iranian regime’s judiciary reconfirmed the death sentences for six political prisoners. The regime is taking advantage of the fog of war to exact revenge on political prisoners. The lives of other death-row prisoners are in danger.
