And this seems to be the moral of the story: the most distant LAEs sit inside ionised bubbles that appear too big to attribute them to the LAEs themselves, given how faint they are. This implies they are being helped by a population of even fainter galaxies we are yet to detect!

With @William_M_Baker, @ENelsonAstro and #JADES, we have found this interesting galaxy, 700 million years after the Big Bang (redshift 7.43). We have carefully measured how rapidly this galaxy grows, discovering that it is growing inside-out. arxiv.org/abs/2306.02472

New JWST paper: the sizes of galaxies that shouldn't exist! Josephine Baggen finds (in her very first paper!) that the candidate massive early galaxies that were found last summer with JWST are tiny, with a mean half-light radius of ~150 pc. arxiv.org/abs/2305.17162

This happened yesterday, capping off a crazy week. It only took 9 years elementary school + 5 years high school + 5 years college + 1 year MSc + 6 years PhD + 6 years PostDoc + 6 years Asst Prof = 38 years! People still confuse me for a student, though.
