@beauhightowerdn I wish there was avail tape of the 77-78 team, especially their EPIC battles with Tarks UNLV. A lot of Lobo fans posting nowadays don’t know first hand how great the 77-78 team, the 60’s Daniel’s , Harge, Nelson or the 90s team of Spider Smith, Shields, Thomas teams were.

The $17 million naming rights announcement for the Pit was largely about rev share money. So I think there's some buzz out there.

@TheHowlLine @ABQJournal There have been conversations since January. It's about a lot more than what they can do for Olen, though. It's about rev-share money and staff compensation. ... But, yes. there have been conversations ongoing since January.

@cowboysandlobos Baljan is a physical beast, but Doesn’t have Height 6’9 Length or athletisism at center in today’s NCAAB. He is defended by Centers 6’11 or taller with length and athleticism. Past 2 years Lobos had Nelly 6’11, Wings Toppin, Amzil etc 6’9 who had all three attributes.

Buljan still struggling. Looks like he shoots from face level or flips shots rather than keeping it high and going up strong and just dunking the ball sometimes. Getting shots blocked or missing at rim too often. Love to see him regain confidence and finish this game strong

@MatthewChu82642 @GeoffGrammer Observation Lobo greats such as Cooper, Dent etc have come from this Geo area. With 360 D1 schools recruiting in this Geo base area would it not be better to expand nationwide to get Athletic, Height and Length needed to get into and compete in the NCAA tourney?

@GeoffGrammer Just an observation. It appears Olen and staff are limited to one geographical area in recruiting and unable or unwilling to expand nationwide?

@NMLobo4Ever @505roots I agree 1978. I go a little further back. Second would be and I can’t remember the exact year late 60’s or 1970 but Unm, Nmsu and UCLA with Lee Alcindor were in the SI Mag Top 10. All three teams were in a loaded NCAA West Regional.

@505roots The best Lobo team in my time as a fan is 1978 and it's not even close. 24 and 4 and ranked #5 in the country for a good portion of the season. The team averaged 98 points per game.

What is the greatest team in Lobo basketball history? I would say 2010, 2013, 2024 I know there are some earlier teams I am missing Go Lobos🐺🐺

@NickViaNyte I’m concerned not having a backup C for JT. He hasn’t played many min in 3 years come Nov. inexperience could get him in foul trouble. No backup. Once you meet a team with a tall front line long, athletic, we r in trouble. Look at GS NBA. Trouble guard 7’ with 6-8’ 6’9’ players

The size of the Lobo roster looks promising. Even though the scheme will change under Coach Olen it is important to have size when matching up against other teams on the schedule. This team has a lot of size from top to bottom.

@NMLobo4Ever @a10qui One thing we must remember. The Big West is not equal to the Mountain West. It’s harder to win in the MWC, better teams top to bottom. We need one more big to backup JT.

@a10qui You would think so at least one or two more bigs. Olen won with a really small team in San Diego though maybe it's his style.....ballhandlers and shooters. The average height is still 6'6" which is pretty good overall good length.

@ProfBenavidez I’d keep the shield and incorporate the word New Mexico somewhere on the shield. Nobody outside New Mexico will know what UNM means. It will never gain the recognition of a USC, etc

Who else would like to see other Lobo teams follow baseball’s lead by incorporating the UNM monogram into their uniforms?

@GeoffGrammer (2 of 2). Money saved by not paying severance pay could be used to hire better coaches and pay more if the decision is made to change staff.

@GeoffGrammer (1 of 2) I feel the FB team is heading in the right direction. Lobo fans need to chill. You can’t keep firing a FB coach every few years, cause you have to pay severance which could total $millions, plus pay a new coach around $800K When contract ends then decide.

I know what the fan base thinks, but this is still a VASTLY improved Lobos team to last year. Maybe that only speaks to how bad last year, but this team is competitive in games it wasn't a year ago.

@SkiWookiee I’ll take a look. If Dent stays a Lobo for 4 years, he has potential to be one of the all time assist leaders.
