@MatthewARein @mcbyrne @adammocklerr @kevinroose Is "pwned" so old that it's back in style again? Are we vintage internet terms chic yet?
English

@MatthewARein @mcbyrne @adammocklerr @kevinroose It's not that online debate content matters because people go "Now that I've heard both sides, I agree with this one." It's watching right-wingers lose. Getting beaten on the merits after being smug. Like, you know -- getting PWNED.
English

One of the things @adammocklerr has shown with his time on CNN is that networks should have creators on as much as possible!
It's a big win/win. Win for the creator who gets to leverage their appearance for content/clips, win for networks who get reach from creator audiences.
English

@mcbyrne @MatthewARein @adammocklerr Yeah. I'm assuming guys like @adammocklerr with a speedy sharp debate style end up playing a role in getting people out of the red pill pipeline. Not just getting attention but moving people. Not my area but I'm curious the data on that.
English

@MatthewARein @adammocklerr *good creators.
English

@umairfan Shooting you a note in the "just to chat" category. So sorry. There are more fun ways to start the week. Hope good stuff is ahead.
English

It's official. The @Guardian now reaches more *American* readers than the @WashingtonPost does.
Let nobody say, "Well, the Guardian's great, but when we talk to them aren't we basically talking to Brits?" niemanlab.org/reading/the-gu…

In the 25 years that Reporters Without Borders has been compiling the World Press Freedom Index, the average score of all the countries has never been as low as it is today. cnn.it/4tP1ZsS

Happened to be scheduled to chat Maine Senate with @perrybaconjr for his @newrepublic podcast this morning, so here are my immediate thoughts on what went wrong for Janet Mills, as Maine reporter who used to cover national campaigns > @perrybaconjr/note/p-196006591?utm_source=notes-share-action&r=bsse" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">substack.com/@perrybaconjr/…

@hicharliecotton Metro Club Vintage in Dupont is all upcycled art tshirts and it's probably too cool for you. It's too cool for me, and I'm pretty cool. instagram.com/metroclubvinta…

So….The United States has fallen to its lowest-ever ranking on the World Press Freedom Index from @RSF_en.
The US is ranked 64th —in the “Problematic Situation” category.

@ravi_mangla Signal Break is great btw: I recommend! And I don't subscribe to a lot of these things. signalbreak.substack.com/p/actually-thi…
English

Riffing on what @ravi_mangla is saying: This also means that the age of longer-than-a-soundbite takes on complex issues could be ahead, right? And doesn't everyone kind of thirst for that?

English

👇I think @ravi_mangla is very right. The classic "pivot" and "answer the question you want to be asked" interview tips look more and more like obvious dodges to an audience used to unedited live internet personalities--and the few electeds who are naturally strong communicators.
Ravi Mangla@ravi_mangla
Media is changing—rapidly—but political communications has yet to catch up.
English

@LisaDNews I really appreciate when people talk about caring for our parents and normalize talking about what a big part of all our lives it will be. And when people with serious jobs in politics can model cutting back from a 24/7 work lifestyle while still doing their jobs.

@NateWeixel @PoliticsReid Best destination for "carbo loading" night with the track team. Best destination for birthday parties at literally any age. Miss the Nolio pizza with the lemon pepper cream sauce.
English

@PoliticsReid I worked at a Bertucci's in high school. The best perk wasn't the half priced pizza but the all-you-can eat rolls
English

Friend and I went to the DC Bertucci’s when we were in college. She asked for some rolls to go, waiter brought back a grocery bag full of them. I watched her turn every shade of red … but she definitely took the bag home.
Dan Friedman@dfriedman33
This story annoyingly reduces those of us who know Bertucci's has the best free bread to a type within a type - correctly, apart from the "millennials" part. Plus it's sneakily sad. Made me want to go to Red Lobster with her dad or Bertucci's with mine.

An event like this, in the midst of the WHCD week is a great way to be centered in the importance of the work, what is being celebrated and the stakes.
