I find it perplexing why Shia Muslims would choose to hold an Islamic rally for Ashura right next to one of Melbourne’s main Catholic cathedrals. I don’t think anybody would appreciate it if Christians held massive religious rallies right next to mosques in Australia. That would be seen as an intimidating act. I don’t think these actions are good for managing communal harmony and social cohesion.
