If you want to MAKE plays, then don’t miss practice, workouts, extra reps, meals, film, etc.. As Navy Seals say ”Under pressure you don’t rise to the occasion. You sink to the level of your training.” You don’t fall victim to pressure. You fall victim to your lack of preparation!

We will have our Spring Sports Preseason Parent Meeting next Monday February 9th at 7pm in the East Surry cafeteria. We will have a general info session first, then team specific meetings. Parents of any athlete planning on trying out for a spring sport should attend.

So sick of “D1 or Bust” mentality. And for what? So your parents can tell people at a dinner party? 6-7% of HS athletes even GET the opportunity to play in college IF you even get the chance to play at the next level...GO where you can play four more years. THATS what matters.

Winter isn’t a break, it’s the separator. Early mornings. Quiet gyms. Extra reps. For athletes, habits are built. For coaches, standards are enforced. For parents, sacrifices are made. Winter means one more rep, drill, mile, battle, win —so spring isn’t hoped for, it’s earned!

Millions of sports parents need to change what they think success looks like for their children. It should not be to "get a scholarship." Instead, it should be to help our children become better people learning life lessons like teamwork, accountability, and ownership.

You can only grow if you’re willing to feel awkward/uncomfortable when you try something new. Let 2026 be the year that you become unafraid to fail. Know that you will fail. Just keep attacking the uncomfortable. You'll continually get better. Eventually, you'll get A LOT better!

Losers: Assemble in small groups and complain about coaches and teammates. Winners: Assemble as a team and find ways to win. Which one are you?

Choose team over self when it costs you. That's the separator. When have you sacrificed for the team?

All the successful teams I’ve ever seen have 3 characteristics: They play unselfish, they play together, and they play hard. – Larry Brown

It's not just about working hard, it's about working together. You have to care more about the team than you do about yourself.

Selfless teams are powerful teams. Instead of focusing on personal highlights and stats they are All-In for each other and the team.

No college coach anywhere recruits a player based on how good the parents think they are. The player’s ability has to sell itself
