Foreign Minister Gedion delivered Ethiopia's statement at the BRICS @20 session on "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability." The Minister congratulated all member states on the 20th anniversary of BRICS that marks two decades of remarkable partnership and collective progress. Minister Gedion reaffirmed Ethiopia's steadfast commitment to the BRICS vision and pursuit of a just and equitable multilateral system that serves the interests of all nations. The Minister also noted that BRICS has laid a strong foundation for partnership. He expressed confidence that the next twenty years will bring expanded opportunities ; to scale up program implementation, grow and consolidate its membership, and build strong and flexible organisational capability. Minister Gedion further reiterated Ethiopia's commitment to the BRICS aspiration that inter-state relations can thrive as a force for global good; harnessing the rich social, ideological, geographic, and historical diversity of its member states. #BRICS2026 #Ethiopia

State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hadera Abera, today signed a Host Country Agreement with Ambassador Solomon Rutega, Secretary General of the Inter-African Coffee Organization (IACO), at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ambassador Hadera emphasized the importance of transforming Africa’s coffee sector through stronger political commitment and cooperation. He noted that Ethiopia’s Coffee Sector Transformation Strategy aims to position the country among the world’s leading coffee exporters by empowering smallholder farmers, enhancing quality and productivity, promoting sustainability, and scaling up value addition across the coffee value chain. The State Minister also reaffirmed Ethiopia’s commitment to supporting continental coffee initiatives and highlighted the African Union’s recognition of coffee as a strategic commodity under Agenda 2063. On his part, Ambassador Solomon Rutega expressed his appreciation for the signing of the agreement, noting that it is an honor for IACO to come back to Ethiopia, the origin of coffee.
