At the World Internet Conference in Wuzhen, Chen Deli, senior researcher at DeepSeek, broke ranks with Beijing’s techno-optimism to issue a blunt warning: “Artificial intelligence could wipe out most jobs within 10 to 20 years.” He called this the “honeymoon phase” - where AI boosts productivity but hasn’t yet replaced people en masse. Once it ends, he said, the layoffs will come fast and brutal. His plea: for tech firms to act as “whistleblowers” and “guardians of humanity”, not silent executioners of the labor force. The message lands hard in a China already hiding its own unemployment crisis - youth joblessness hit 21.3% in 2023 before the government stopped reporting the numbers. DeepSeek, founded that same year, is no fringe player: its ultra-cheap AI model rattled markets and undercut OpenAI’s prices earlier this year. In the U.S., the tremors are already visible. 31,000 AI-related job cuts last month alone, according to Challenger data. “Cost-cutting” is still the polite term; “replacement” is the real one. The app’s been blowing up worldwide since January, but now it’s banned from Pentagon devices, NASA computers, and even some state governments like Texas, New York, and Georgia. One congressional report says DeepSeek censors info “in line with Chinese law,” was built using stolen U.S. tech, and secretly beams your info back to China. 17 U.S. states and several countries like Italy, Australia, and South Korea have already blocked it... and more could follow. For now, you can still use DeepSeek if you're not working for the government… but good luck explaining that to the FBI when your phone randomly pings in Mandarin. Source: Infobae

OpenAI is now the Apple of AI and there’s no going back. When people say “AI,” they don’t mean Anthropic, Gemini, or Grok, they mean ChatGPT. Just like when people say “tablet,” they mean iPad. When they say “smartphone,” they mean iPhone. OpenAI didn’t just build a model, they built the category. They own the mindshare. They own the experience. They own the ecosystem. Every other lab is racing to match specs, but OpenAI is defining culture. They’re not in the model war anymore, they’re in the reality war. Their moat isn’t GPUs or data, it’s perception, integration, and identity. ChatGPT isn’t an app. It’s becoming a verb. And once that happens… the game’s already over.
