What’s Next The #1 question people have asked me since exiting Pura Vida is "Paul, what's next?" Here's what I've got on my mind: Basically, I've realized building a business the second time around is a totally different ballgame. Because this time around... ...my back isn't against the wall. I'm not fighting to survive. I don't have to choose between splurging on myself a little or reinvesting profits back in the business. Startup costs aren't an issue anymore. Which creates a bit of a dilemma: Because this time around, I can build most any business I want. Which sounds amazing (and is amazing). But, that also means I have to get fired up about building for the sake of building. I'm not chasing a pay day or exit anymore. For me to subject myself to the level of work it will take to build something great again... I need to be so excited about the product I can't NOT build it. Which is where I find myself now: So far, I haven't found something I'm super passionate about. I have ideas. But nothing that fires me up to the point I'm ready to step away from my current "retirement"... ...and recommit to the day-to-day of building again. So, that's where I'm at now. Talking to people. Looking at industries and products. And just thinking a lot. More updates as my thoughts progress. *If you want help me brainstorm: From your point of view, what industries or product categories need to be disrupted?
