Spartans and ODSTs have long-running institutional rivalry in the books. Their bosses Ackerson and Dr. Halsey dislike each other, and 14 yo John-117 accidentally kills/maims a few of them after they pick a fight with him just after he gets his augmentations. Hasn't really shown up in the games up to this point so far as I can remember though, so I don't know if that's what they're drawing on for those scenes.

@HaloStuffDaily @GnySgtKabar Yeah. The prequel missions should definitely be played afterwards. Imagine being a new player and jumping into them first. The difficulty balancing in them is crazy and it has all the weapon sandbox immediately.

@GnySgtKabar It's a personal gripe, but my issue is that the bonus missions and the main missions are so vastly different in terms of balancing that its jarring, I'll get my ass beat in Meteorite and then switch to CE and its like I'm picking flowers in a garden lmao

For me the only real glaring issue with Campaign Evolved is the cutscenes and some of the line deliveries. I saw some model pop in pop out in the later half of the game but it didn't happen to me enough for it to be a problem.

Yes and that is to make it immersion and a dopamine hit. However im thinking about 2 or 3 with all the elites. The reality is that the games are not the books but when you start bringing in beef that exists in the books, then you have to include whats in the books rather than just random shit for immersion. That means I shoukd be able to beat the shit out of the odst then for being a retard.

@meloneslada Yeah. The changes to two betrayals pacing was one of my favorite things. But there were other things I wished they touched up. I'll be interested to see what they do for H2 personally. H2 doesn't have as many stand out problematic levels, but there are some things I'd touch up

@MischiefsYT Agreed. I kinda wish they did more changes. I'm really glad they made Hunters more engaging a fight. The changes on two betrayals are also fantastic. But I do have two major complaints. The melee is weird and the warthog turret feels the weakest it ever has.

I finished Halo Campaign Evolved and it's simply the original game with better graphics, cutscenes, level design and gameplay. TLDR: If you've never played CE before then this is the ideal experience but if you have, it's just a very nice fresh coat of paint Full thoughts below:

This is blatantly an attempt to setup a new protagonist going forward for Halo. The franchise is dead, it has been dead for a long time. They're going to keep exhuming the body and wearing its skin to trick you with decreasing levels of success as the flesh has torn and rendered and the ugly monster underneath is barely hidden. They have always hated this franchise because of what it was and who loved it, and they're not going to stop violating its memory until they can claim it as a zombie janissary in their long march through everything we love.

The intro to Halo 3: Crow’s Nest highlights to me how Chief was treated under Bungie. Very battered marines, heroes in their own right, see Chief show up. Their dialogue: “NO WAY! A Spartan?” Blind guy: “For real? You better not be-“ “No, for real! We’re gonna be alright!” The fact these war-fighting patriots view Chief as their morale boost, their reassurance that everything’s going to be alright; that’s the correct fantasy. In 2012, 343 introduced a girlboss spartan, Sarah Palmer, whose first line to Chief isn’t “Uh hey thanks for saving the human race I really admire you” it’s “Thought you’d be taller. Pfft” mocking him. They *tried* to bring back the original spirit in Halo Infinite with the minority pilot character. The only problem is we are given no initial reason to respect the brown guy, he’s basically chicken shit. Thus, no respect is transferred to the Chief. After failing to recapture such a simple feeling they have reverted back to Sarah Palmer with an ODST (Erm, we found a lore excuse for girlboss to shittalk Chief!) Only problem is she doesn’t speak or talk like an ODST, doesn’t have the baseline respect an ODST would, and THEY HAVE STILL FAILED TO ENABLE THE POWER FANTASY AT THE CORE OF HALO. The reason is simple: They aren’t capable of doing so. The office culture at 343/Halo Studios does not give the breathing room required for Master Chief to be a respected, masculine character. This is one of hundreds of reasons why Halo Studios should be shut down now, permanently. Have other industry veterans bid for a chance to make Halo, like Nintendo did with Metroid Prime. Thanks!

@VengaBusDriver @DavidAgallas @iamrobtv So it's possible that dialogue didn't fire for you. But it did for me. I had some glitches with their dialogue when I was moving too fast.

After you do the bridge section, jOhnson says "I know you helljumpers have animosity towards the Spartans but don't let it interfere" and she says yes sir.

ODST’s hate Spartans by the way. There’s a lot of beef there. In the very first novel, Master Chief’s first kills were three ODST’s in a base gym because they started a fight with him. They do not like Spartans. I’m not saying this character’s dialogue is great or well timed but many are clearly unfamiliar with the history between ODST’s and Spartans.
