My fast is over. Made it 86 hours. Just had the best breakfast of my life. My goal was 72 and my stretch goal was 86, or 3 days plus one extra night. My motivation for this came after my wife read and recommended the book, “The complete guide to fasting.” She did her own 135 hr fast earlier this year (yeah shes incredible) and I promised to do my own before EOY. Honestly, besides the chick-fil-a temptation, it wasn’t as hard as I thought. My energy levels stayed pretty good, as did my mood. I expected to have to hide because I’d be so hangry, but that didn’t happen. I’m also grateful to have experienced what 3 days with only water (and a little salt) felt like. I remember reading lots of stories about explorers or Indian braves who went days without food. It feels more relatable now. I do wish I prepped better. I did one day of only fruit and vegetables before starting, and wish I would’ve loaded up on protein the few days before that. The main purpose was to reach autophagy, where my body would eat cancerous or potentially cancerous cells, but I’m surprised by how much weight I lost. 7 pounds in the last 3 days. Because of the method, I know it’ll be tough to keep off, but I’m motivated to do so and plan to. This is the lowest I’ve weighed in around 20 months and was a great reset. If you’re on the fence, go for it!
