Debuting a new avatar showcasing one of the rarest Blockheads in my possession, "Poon" registered on July 25th, 2014. Blockheads were THE precursor to Cryptopunks minted on Namecoin between 2014-2015...all the best NFTs originated there. You guys have no freakin' idea. ...soon

It’s my opinion that one of the biggest threats to Bitcoin is infighting among its key developers. I’m not going to pretend to understand all the facets of BIP-110. It’s not my lane and I stay firmly in my lane. But I do trust guys like @adam3us. He’s been at the front of this movement from the very start. It’s his ideas that assisted in the birth of this technology. Even setting the technical debate aside, forcing a contentious change through with low consensus thresholds goes against how Bitcoin is supposed to evolve.

🪙 Namecoin .bit Gateway 🔹 The oldest Web3 backend in space: Namecoin .bit domains can now be easily resolved by appending .host in any browser’s address bar. The .bit Gateway redirects to the Asset Viewer, or alternatively acts as a Web2-Web3 bridge by mirroring the original .bit website: 🔗 namecoin.pro/SitePages/Janu… 🔹 More and more 𝕏 members, crypto OGs, and #NFT collectors actively use their Namecoin IDs in their bio, as an on-chain link container and central Web3 ID, verifying themselves - powered by the #Bitcoin network: 🔗 index.bit.host #Namecoin #Web3

⚙️ Namecoin .bit Gateway and Message Signer To streamline the daily use of Namecoin as a Web3 backend, two new utilities have been introduced: the Namecoin .bit Gateway and the Namecoin Message Signer. 🔹 While the Namecoin Asset Viewer has been live for several years, access to Web3 IDs and domains is now further simplified through the .bit.host gateway. By appending .host to any .bit domain in a browser’s address bar, the Namecoin .bit Gateway redirects to the Asset Viewer, or alternatively acts as a Web2-Web3 bridge by mirroring the original .bit website. 🔹 The Namecoin Message Signer is a platform-independent Python tool with a graphical user interface (GUI) for signing and verifying messages for Namecoin Core descriptor, HD, and legacy wallets. This long-awaited tool replicates Namecoin Core’s native signing feature for legacy addresses while extending support to modern Bech32/SegWit addresses. ⚙️ Core Wallet Maintenance Tools 🔹 Following the release of the Core Wallet Migration Tools, it was time to release a tool for the general descriptor wallet maintenance and recovery. 🔹 Especially collectors, who have transferred out assets or got expired ones, can now get rid of the orphaned wallet entries. 🔹 Also for an easy-to-use backup routine, the Core Wallet Maintenance Tools are now available as platform-independent Python scripts for #Namecoin Core: 🔗 github.com/blocktraveler/… As always, immutably stored fully on-chain on the Namecoin blockchain, in accordance with the NMC-V Standard: 🔗 namecoin.online/explorer/detai…

When a tech bro is proud of their ability to “solve hard problems” but they also say something along the lines of “I don’t really keep up with politics, it’s just really overwhelming because I can’t fix any of it” it makes me want to knock them out with a fry pan

There's a fundamental difference of world view between the filteroors and Bitcoin Core devs. Filteroors seem to believe that you can just have regular, quick auto-updates on filters to filter out new forms of content spam. BTW, who sets the filters? What if they get the filters wrong? Can the filter authority itself represent a centralisation risk? What happens if/when people want to run different filters and different forms of spam get mined into blocks? Core devs are operating on a 6 monthly release cycle and by necessity, they must be conservative. They're working on crucial infrastructure for a $2T+ and growing ecosystem. And they know that not everyone updates straight away, there are people running versions that are years out of date. Most Bitcoin Core devs are fundamentally against auto-updates - for loss of user sovereignty reasons, security reasons, and SPOF (single point of failure) reasons. Now to be fair, one nuance is that Bitcoin Core's latest versions have the most up to date security patches. So admittedly it's not perfect there. But as I understand, the project does attempt to backport some fixes, usually for the last 2 point releases (so if v30 is latest, some fixes will go back into v29 and v28 where possible).

Your bi-annual reminder that Namecoin rocks (+173% over the 365 days). The first ever alt coin was also the first attempt to create a Self-Sovereign Identity system where we the users retain sole access to our own data. No big companies selling our data. No massive centralized databases with all our most sensitive information. Just the ability to freely decide our own digital footprints as they happen, and even change them afterwards if we’d like. Bitcoin was first. It is gold. It is the monetary foundation on which the new digital age will be built in large part because it fixed a massive problem at the perfect time. Massive companies will continue to have data leaks. Governments around the world will continue to restrict access to the internet through centralized entities. Much like the housing crash in ‘08 lead many to buy gold and soon after BTC, centralized digital systems will eventually push people towards the SSI model. It is absolutely inevitable and current global events will tell you it’s coming sooner than you think. Namecoin has always been a fantastic solution to a huge problem, it just started solving it over a decade before the masses realized it. Even if it is not the .bit standard that succeeds - the model that does work will owes all its foundational understanding of SSI’s to the Namecoin/.bit experiment. Many will laugh at my $NMC investment thesis from ‘24, but it has already been written in stone that some form of their model will be adapted globally in the future. Whether I own a piece of the digital Mona Lisa that created the model, or the coin that will win is still yet to be seen. Regardless - I’m holding (and still buying) the right one, no matter how long it may take or how niche it may be now. By the time that’s abundantly clear though, you still won’t know how to buy any and every exchange that does have a sliver of it will be long sold out. My DM’s will be closed by then. Good luck fellow digital pioneers and degens alike.

In the Knots Vs Core debate, people are missing a few ground truths: 1. 400KB JPEGs via the taproot inscription envelope is already standard, and already being relayed by a majority of nodes. 2. Due to librerelay, 100KB OP RETURN is already possible to relay. People are incorrectly acting like somehow Core v30 is uniquely enabling these things.

i’ve been trying to steelman the filterboys/knots position over the last few weeks but i can’t support the way you guys are treating gloria you’re crossing a line first of all the video clip of her being presumably supportive of jpegs/wizards/cats is taken completely out of context. i know this because i vividly remember watching that segment on peter mccormack’s show in context a year or two ago and i was upset because i felt she and peter were pretty dismissive of our work it’s incredibly disingenuous to make it look like she was on “our side” (although i obviously think she should’ve been!). how many of you guys bothered to watch the entire interview??? but more importantly, this is in such poor taste, with way too many comments with a weird sexual angle, like seriously what is wrong with you guys i know the knots supporters well. many of you guys have daughters not much younger than her. it’s fucked up guys. really gross behavior one days you guys are going to wake up and realize you crossed a line and you’re gonna feel like shit about it you can be emotional about bitcoin as much as you want but ffs act like men. you’re being shameful. not too late to stop this
