Kilak stores an estimated 19 million tonnes of carbon, mostly in soils.

Today, ERI is monitoring forest carbon dynamics in Kilak County. Kilak is a key forest landscape, with 53,000 ha of natural forest (15% of land area in 2020) making it critical for climate regulation and carbon storage.

📍 Today, ERI is monitoring forest carbon trends in Aswa County. Aswa is a critical but often overlooked forest landscape, with 18,000 ha of natural forest (10% of land area in 2020). Understanding changes here is key to local and national climate action.

Today, ERI is monitoring forest carbon trends in Gulu District. Gulu remains one of Uganda’s most significant forest landscapes, with 130,000 ha of natural forest (11% of land area in 2020). But pressure is rising and the climate implications are substantial.
