@best_clips__ His wife could be in hospital and he’s trying to support her.

What a wonderful excuse Burnham has for putting up taxes. To fulfil his social care plan. Sounds a really good reason, some would say but, TAXES WILL RISE, they would have done anyway and can you imagine the problems this would cause this so called gov. Answer is sugar coat them with care plan that makes it sound better, but as we have found out from past no care plan will be forthcoming. It will of course be on the Labour manifesto for the next election, with the excuse that lack of Parliamentary time has delayed progress but after Labour wins election of course it will go ahead. (Fingers crossed behind their backs)

Hold on a minute....
Ten years ago, an extra 2% charge was added to our council tax bills to help fund local social care
The Adult Social Care Precept
So what happened to that money?

@LDNRom @CarlLaverick Sorry, I misunderstood your intention, goodbye.

I’ve been repaying my #studentloan for 10 years. I graduated owing £26,000. Today I owe £28,000. I pay £190 a month through my salary, but £220 is added in monthly interest. I’m paying every month, yet the balance keeps increasing. How is that fair?
English

@LDNRom @CarlLaverick As I said as ‘free’ as it was. It gets you closer to what you say you want but it still has a cost. The transaction here is the personal price you pay to get it and the reward is still financial, good or bad. People who have nothing will factor that in.
English

@LDNRom @CarlLaverick No wrong. I’ve always believed in meritocracy. He sold you a pup.
English

@LDNRom @CarlLaverick Actually it was means tested for the parents. Despite the change to the current loan scheme I still had to pay towards both my sons accommodation and some fees getting on for 6 years. I guess you young kids don’t think about that part much?
English

@LDNRom @CarlLaverick You also said you paid your education in full. Thats a transaction by the way. I hope it pays off for you.
English

@EazyMeat @CarlLaverick You didn't talk about your experience though, you spoke on behalf of everyone in that position. What you said was demonstrably wrong.
English

@LDNRom @CarlLaverick Given that all life is transactional I don’t think so. Everytime you buy a coffee, pay your taxes, earn some money. Education is no different. Prove me wrong.
English

@LDNRom @CarlLaverick I can see I have a different perspective based on my experience.
English

@EazyMeat @CarlLaverick Nonsense. And if that was true, then surely that would be something to fix rather than perpetuate?
English

@ArchaeoWill @CarlLaverick He made that point to me which was not mentioned beforehand. That is unfair.
English

@EazyMeat @CarlLaverick To be fair, I haven’t bought a car on finance and then the goalposts move so staggeringly years after the sale.
English

@LDNRom @CarlLaverick To those at the bottom end it’s always been transactional. Only the wealthy can afford culture for cultures sake.
English

@EazyMeat @CarlLaverick Education is good. Doing more of it should be appealing. If it becomes entirely transactional, a cost-benefit analysis, then we will lose our culture.
English

@EazyMeat @Disciple270614 @CarlLaverick My daughters taken 3 degrees to become a solicitor bought her own house but her student loan debt is about 80k without the interest. She works very hard and contrary to belief she won’t be earning a fortune as a solicitor! So hard work won’t clear her debt
English

@txhsin @CarlLaverick Read the rest. Youth of today, too quick and not enough effort.
English

@KayBurley The economy is and continues to be worse than at any time under Liz Truss’s time as Prime Minister. Gilts are at a higher level not seen since the financial crash (also under Labour).
