I just saw the news about @POLITICOEurope which decided not to publish FM Lavrov's article in the last minute. First of all, I wish to begin my remarks by condemning this European despotism -which we are very familiar with. It would be very helpful for all parties of this conflict if Politico would honestly publish a statement that explains their reasons for rejecting to publish this article. This being said: The key departure point in FM Lavrov's article is "Europe's complicity in fuelling the Ukrainian crisis is undeniable." COMPLICITY. From this statement we undertand that FM Lavrov (who represents President Putin) understands that there is ANOTHER CULPRIT in the Ukrainian crisis who bears THE PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY in this war. Of course, we know who this MAIN CULPRIT is : United States of America. Lavrov mentions "United States" only 3 times in his article: 1/Together with the United States, European countries orchestrated the Orange Revolution in Kiev in 2004. (Sophia:Lavrov is silent about the primary role USA played during Maidan...which led to the Ukraine war ) 2/Russia, for its part, explored every diplomatic avenue to defuse Europe's security crisis. However, in January 2022, the United States and NATO rejected Russia's proposal for legally binding mutual security guarantees. European NATO members actively endorsed that rebuff. (Sophia: Yes, but Lavrov says nothing about the role United States played in pushing Nato expansion up to Russia's door step despite Russia's warnings... ) 3/As for Ukraine, it is increasingly eyed as the "striking fist" of a future European military force, independent of the United States and independent of NATO. (Sophia: It is very unrealistic to think USA's fascist colony Ukraine will be independent of USA in the near future) Overall, the article is extremely muted vis a vis the role United States has played in provoking the Ukraine war by decades of Nato expansion and by the civil war instigated inside Ukraine in 2014. There is no need to pretend that Europeans are sovereign powers. Noticing the chatter about the conduct of the war here today. It isn't just a handful of deranged hotheads who are questioning things. Sergey Alexandrovich Karaganov is not a "deranged hothead" with an anon Twitter account. Neither are the editors of Tsargrad, or other Russians. The criticisms are understandable. I myself wonder why there isn't a declaration of war. Why the decision making centers are not destroyed. Why enterprises associated with the production of war materiel have not been annihilated. Why the embarrassing attempts to ingratiate oneself with Trump continues. Etc. I never used to feel this way. I was a person who called out what I considered "doomers" when I saw them. As it turns out, many of them were right. It isn't about Ukraine's - I mean NATO's - attack on Moscow yesterday either.
