Generative AI Can Harm Learning
"Consistent with prior work, our results show that access to GPT-4 significantly improves performance (48% improvement for GPT Base and 127% for GPT Tutor). However, we additionally find that when access is subsequently taken away, students actually perform worse than those who never had access (17% reduction for GPT Base)."

We were alerted to the Journal of Experimental and Basic Medical Sciences. Oytun Erbaş is both the owner and the EiC. The journal has published 189 articles. Of those, 168 (89%) have the EiC/owner as an author. That can't be ethical, can it?

Belgian DPA announced it found that the collection of voice by a city was unlawful and non-transparent. In addition, it failed to comply with the rules on international data transfers. Therefore, it ordered Antwerp to remove voice files that had been collected during the project.
