Nevada gaming revenue increased 5.5% in August to $1.2B. Las Vegas Strip revenue was also up 5.5% to $679.3M The explanation will be interesting. You can't credit the new Las Vegas ad campaign because it didn't launch until after Labor Day Weekend. via @NevadaGCB @TheNVIndy

Since today is my birthday, one of my biggest accomplishments this year was completing a half-marathon. As a person who does not consider themselves athletic, it was not easy to run 13 miles. Yet I put in the hard work and accomplished something I never thought was possible.

SURPRISE NEWS!!! Hickey Elementary always has a great turnout for #NevadaReadingWeek in the spring, but we are planning to do an additional Reading Week in the fall as early as September. So if you enjoy reading to kids like @KirstenSearer and want to participate, let me know.

It was great to be apart of the reopening of Lundy ES in Mt. Charleston yesterday. The community fought to get the school reopened & convinced CCSD that it was the best thing for kids instead of sending them on a 50 mile bus ride to school. @LydiaD_LV @TrusteeZamora

Had a chance to attend the Hispanics In Politics breakfast this morning and chat with CCSD Superintendent @jhoneebert & former Henderson City Councilwoman Gerri Schroder who now works for Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkeley. It was a great event.

One of the goals for Reading Week at Hickey Elementary is to build community involvement at the school. It was great to have 3 of our readers @Phillips4Nevada, @ALROJAS4NV12, & @nanfornevada stop by to donate supplies for our kids before school starts. Thank you for the gifts.

Had a great time this week at Sunrise Mountain HS (@SunriseHSMiners) open house talking to parents about the importance of the School Organizational Team and how it helps make decisions at the school. We had 11 parents signup to find out more info. @ClarkCountySch

Today was the last day for Hickey ES principal Ronalyn Napier. @HickeyESPTO President Shanna Haynie & I presented her with flowers & a small gift in appreciation for her 8 years at the school. I am sad to see her retire because she cared so much about the kids. @ClarkCountySch

@lightning36 The franchise Denny’s locations in Las Vegas have been reluctant to increase the price on eggs. I talked to one of general managers two weeks ago and he said they would rather take the hit on profits short-term than make it unaffordable for people to eat there.

Praise be Denny's on the Las Vegas south strip for only bumping up the charge for eggs a little. 😃
