@Joanna__Hardy @LFarnz Given that less than 3% of criminal trials are held before a jury then there's a lot to disagree with. Charlie and others have to explain what alternative they would propose to deal with the current crisis in courts if not these changes - and please don't say more money!

Strongly disagree with idea of non jury trials. Those convicted will feel system not fair to them, victims will feel no justice where defendant acquitted. Sir Richard Henriques says Diplock courts worked. They undermined justice hugely.

Today I taught students about Enoch Powell’s ‘Rivers of Blood’ speech. I had to add: ‘In 2025 our Home Secretary echoed his views. 2 key differences: Powell was a) a Tory and b) instantly dismissed from his role in the Shadow Cabinet.’ I can’t believe this is where we are.
