A Harris County Flood Control District director had the nerve to request $8,120 of your hard-earned money for a 3-day conference — basically a boondoggle disguised as “professional development.” • $3,500 for a hotel when rooms were going for $249/night. That’s over $1,100 per night on the public dime. • $1,700 for registration that actually costs $1,070. • $1,500 for a flight you can book for around $200. This isn’t careful stewardship — it’s treating taxpayer dollars like a personal expense account for luxury travel. And it’s not just one greedy request. Multiply this kind of padding, padding, and waste across mid-level (and high-level) government bureaucrats nationwide, and we’re talking billions siphoned straight from working people’s pockets into conference hotels, flights, and “networking” that somehow always costs double or triple market rates. They don’t even bother hiding the contempt anymore. When caught, they mumble about “estimates” and walk away. This is exactly how government grows bloated and disconnected: one padded travel voucher at a time. Enough. Taxpayers aren’t an ATM for these people.

This woman went to visit this dog shelter that apparently most people don’t know even exists. She was fortunate to go right when they were set to have their play time.
