@jimbrownblog They can start by getting rid of omic. We may have enough staff then to deliver sentence management in the community. This would lead to more manageable caseloads.

Great to speak to Lord James Timpson again today. I urged him to consider a 'Timpsons approach' to Probation recruitment - have a recognised & accessible pathway for rehabilitated ex-offenders to become Probation Officers. He's a great visionary, exciting times ahead 🙌

@GambleWithLives with an great panel today at conference. Gambling addiction is an illness which has had negligible attention. After today, I'm hopeful that the Government will drive forward reforms to protect people - particularly the vulnerable- against unhealthy practices.

Spent the morning in HMP Risley speaking to 40 men about hope and change then held interviews for employment all were good and have ‘yes’ letters heading their way. For those who know me will understand that it was an odd experience why? I was in there once as a Borstal boy!

@Edd_flynn In Merseyside we have location monitoring as an alternative to custody on recall - and issues with Tags aside - it is a positive addition to options available.

When faced with a recall, why not change the legislation to make HDC an option? It'll give Probation 3 choices (not 2), HDC, 28 day, or standard recall... HDC would provide restricted movement and safeguarding measures, whilst softening the impact on the prison population...

@SPOoldskool I have lots of empathy for COMs who are trying to pin down Joe Bloggs for a Part B and he gets transferred from the local within that 15 day window.
