Venezolano, dispositivo con la región en Panamá. Y no está disponible? 🧐

I've been denied a bank account just for being Venezuelan 🇻🇪 Not my credit, not my risk profile. My passport. I've lived that reality across multiple countries, watching my family back home depend on remittances that lose value the moment they arrive. Venezuela doesn't have a functioning banking system for most of its diaspora. You send dollars, they get converted at rates that rob your family of purchasing power, and the platforms that process those transfers treat your nationality like a red flag. Millions of Venezuelans abroad live this every month. LATAM generated $324 billion in stablecoin volume in 2025, up 89% YoY, with user growth outpacing the US by 3x. Venezuela to Colombia remittance corridor is one of the fastest growing in the region. People aren't waiting for banks to figure it out. They already chose dollar stability on their own. That's why @mannyornothing piece on @tryavvio hits so close to home. He writes about a system built on one assumption: your money and your life sit in one country. When that breaks, you pay the price. @tryavvio is building the consumer non custodial answer. At @blend_money, we built the institutional one. Same conviction. One API. Non-custodial. Compliance-first. So banks and fintechs across LATAM, Africa, and emerging markets can offer yield on those idle stablecoin balances their customers are already holding, without becoming DeFi shops, without custodial risk. And for every Venezuelan, Argentine, or Nigerian who was told their passport wasn't good enough: we're building the infrastructure so that the next generation of financial products works for you, not against you.

Day 3 of beta testing is here. How is it going? Well, we invited 40 users and 17 are already active and using the product. The active group is spread across 5 platforms with 7 on Android, 5 on macOS, 3 on iOS, and 1 each on Linux and Windows.

I don't know how free2z is doing, but a long-time member of Zcash Brazil Community is asking for help. It was shocking; anyone who can help a Zcash user. Any amount helps the cause. free2z.cash/Fernando98/zpa…

@zooko I tried it out, and yes, you can no longer skip the step where you add a recovery email. Now that I've tested it, I have one too 💩😡. @telegram /@telegram_es , please let us skip the step of adding an email when enabling 2FA.

@Edicksonjga If you could show how to skip the setting up an email, that might be helpful to others. When I tried it, I got to this screen and couldn’t proceed until I entered an email.

If you have an account on any app: 1. Keep your devices secure 2. Keep your phone number safe 3. Enable 2FA and keep it safe 4. Don't use your email to reset 2FA P.S.: Keep your password safe. Using your email to recover your 2FA is like storing your seed phrase in the cloud.

@Edicksonjga @levs57 Ok I’m done experimenting for now but if you have a Telegram account that you don’t want to have it taken over then I’d suggest you run a similar experiment yourself! (And report back so we can all learn.) 🔚

@zooko If an attacker manages to get their hands on both of those, you should be much more concerned than just about Telegram. Your security at those other points of attack would likely be very weak. Even so, I don't recommend using email for 2FA; it's better to just memorize the 2FA

@zooko I see, but how did you get those codes? Did you hack the email? No, because it’s your email. If an attacker tried to do what you’re saying, they’d first have to gain control of your phone number, in addition to your email, in order to access your account.

In this thread (x.com/zooko/status/2…) you can see step by step how I took over a Telegram account, even though it had an added “Two-Step Verification” password, using only 1. Knowing its phone number, and 2. Being able to read its email. ⤵️

@zooko What I am going to look into, though, is why the option to skip setting up a recovery email for 2FA isn't showing up! Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the access code is being sent via email, but if that's the case, that's wrong—very wrong, @Telegram.

@Edicksonjga > With 2FA enabled, they can't log in unless they know the password. That was not the case in my experiment (linked to in the OP).

@zooko So you have to hack into the email account. Is that easy to do? Because your test is based on data from your own email, not on the fact that you've hacked into someone else's email.

@Edicksonjga To be clear, the only things I needed to take control of the target Telegram account was to know what its phone number was (but I didn’t need to read messages sent to that phone number), and to learn two access codes sent to that account’s email address.

@zooko Even if you request to reset my 2FA because you don't know my password, Telegram will notify me so I can choose whether or not to approve the request. And if you request to delete the account, I'll also receive a notification.

@Edicksonjga I’m sorry, I don’t want to take the time to do that experiment rn. If you do the experiment and show how the results differ or not from my previous experiment, I’d be interested in your results!

For years, a lot of people were getting hacked by attackers taking over their phone number and using that to take over their other accounts (called “sim swap”). ⤵️

@zchat_app @zooko @levs57 If you need to intercept the code, you’ll need access to either the phone number or the email address. But if someone has managed to gain access to your phone number, email address, or device, Telegram should be the least of your worries.
