The proposed 2025 City budget includes a tax levy of $61.5 million with increases largely driven by higher operating costs and an investment in public safety. The addition of new Police Officers, debt service for a new Fire Station 2 and staffing for it represent nearly half of the levy increase. The City Council will hold a public hearing on the proposed budget 7 p.m. Dec. 3.

Fire Prevention Week is Oct. 6 – 12 🔥This year's safety message is, “Smoke alarms: Make them work for you!” Have you taken a minute to check your smoke detectors this month? Edina Firefighters remind everyone to check them this week and at least once a month to ensure they work!

Edina Fire: Firefighters are responding to house fire in the 5600 block of Countryside Road right now. No injuries have been reported at this time. Please AVOID the neighborhood until firefighters have cleared the area. Check EdinaMN.gov in the next few days for info.

Rain and storms are forecasted for the 4th of July, which might make for some damp festivities including the Edina Dash, parade, concert and fireworks. If there is a storm during an event, attendees should plan to shelter in their vehicles. Any bad weather impacts to holiday activities will be shared to the City of Edina's Facebook page and website. Don't be alarmed 🚨 Some fire hydrants are getting a fresh coat of paint this summer. Before the hydrant gets a shiny new coat of red, it is painted with a yellow primer which takes a few hours to dry. The painter will be back to get your hydrant looking brand new!

Update [as of 7:45 p.m. June 24]: CenterPoint Energy has stopped the natural gas leak. Residents who have been affected by the leak are allowed to return home and all streets in the area will soon reopen. No injuries were reported; there is no further danger to the public.

Update [as of 4 p.m. June 24]: Centerpoint Energy is on the scene. Repairs are expected to take several hours. Please continue to avoid the area. Further updates will be provided.
