Dr. M. Ravichandran, @Ravi_MoES Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences, addressed the SaGAA VIII Leadership Conference at IIC, New Delhi, emphasising how shifts across the Arctic, Antarctic, and Himalayas directly influence India’s monsoons, agriculture, extreme weather, and sea-level rise. He highlighted that the Arctic—far more fragile than Antarctica—is witnessing rapid glacier loss, thinning ice, rising CO₂ trends, and warming surface waters, while the Southern Ocean is heating faster, signalling the urgency for action. He underlined the need for stronger science–policy–industry collaboration and outlined key priorities: real-time observations, research-driven remedies, open data, global partnerships, capacity building across continents, regulated tourism, emergency readiness, geo-strategic awareness, science diplomacy, and critical infrastructure strengthening. #SaGAA2025 #ClimateScience #LeadershipConference @narendramodi @mygovindia @PMOIndia @OfficeofDrJS @DrJitendraSingh @PIB_India @Mib_India @PIBEarthScience @ESSO_INCOIS @MoesNiot @Indiametdept @ncs_earthquake @CentreCoastal @esso_ncess @iitmpune @cmlre_kochi @ncaor_goa @ncmrwfmoes
