IITM and the Central University of Jammu signed an MoU on climate sciences. The MoU was signed by Director, Dr. A. Suryachandra Rao and Prof. Sanjeev Jain,Vice Chancellor. The MoU will establish a Climate Reference Station under BCON in the Himalayas.

.@moesgoi and the Indian @iitmpune hosted the Weather & Climate Innovation Meet, bringing together scientists, researchers, startups, industry leaders, and innovators to discuss emerging technologies and applications in weather and climate sciences. The event was graced by Dr. Shailesh Nayak, former Secretary, MoES & Director NIAS, Bengaluru, and @Ravi_MoES , Secretary, MoES, who delivered the inaugural address and highlighted the importance of innovation, entrepreneurship, and collaboration in strengthening India’s weather and climate ecosystem. The programme featured expert panel discussions, startup pitches, and exhibitions focused on agriculture, energy, hydrology, disaster management, health, and weather applications. Experts from IITM, IIT-B, IIT-D, IIT-G, ICRISAT, and NCMRWF participated in the discussions, reflecting a collective commitment towards technology-driven solutions for societal benefit and sustainable national development. #IITM #MoES #Weather

The Mega Science Vision-2035-Climate Research (CR) Report is now available on the website of the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to GoI (OPSA). This National Roadmap has been prepared by the CR community of the country after widespread national stakeholder consultations. Read the Report here: psa.gov.in/CMS/web/sites/… This large-scale consultative exercise was facilitated by the OPSA, and the @iiscbangalore, was the Nodal Institution. The preparation of the Report was led by a Working Group (WG) consisting of India’s leading climate researchers and representatives of @moefcc, @moesgoi, @IndiaDST, @DBTIndia and DoS. Prof. SK Satheesh from IISc served as the Chair of the WG, and Dr. SSC Shenoi, @incoismoes, Hyderabad as the Member-Secretary. From the Office of PSA, Dr. Praveer Asthana, PSA Fellow, was involved. At the initiative of OPSA, CR has been considered under the mega science umbrella for the first time in the country. After surveying emerging national & international knowledge-frontiers of the field, this Report lays down a roadmap for mega science projects & activities in CR till 2035, including steps needed to build the feeder ecosystem for CR in the country.

This paper introduces BIOFIM-inhouse dev. Fishery bioenergetic Model. BIOFIM stands for Bioenergetic Indian Ocean Fishery Model. With this model, @iitmpune has successfully replicated the Sardine (one of pelagic fishes) in the last 60yrs on Indian west coast. @Ravi_MoES @moesgoi

Workshop on Indian Ocean–Monsoon Climate - IOMC 2026 begins at IITM Experts gathered at IITM for discussions on climate variability, monsoon predictability, and ocean–atmosphere interactions. Day 1 featured lectures, training sessions, and student presentations.

Dr. Raghavendra Ashrit, Scientist-G, NCMRWF participated in Weather and Climate Innovation Meet for Startups and Entrepreneurs WISE-2026 organized at IITM, Pune on 15th May 2026. He moderated a panel discussion on Renewable Energy in India and also was a panelist in the concluding session.
