Game notes: First, to the Wolves, you guys actually have a deep team and a real team identity, and I could see that just from this one game. DiVincenzo killed us with fast-break open 3s. Ant hit some wild contested 3s, even though I felt he shot too many. Randle was actually able to get to Jokic defensively even better than Gobert, and your entire bench really felt like a unit. Jokic played a great game, there is no way around it. Say what you want about those two or three Ant drives where he blew past him, but on a lot of possessions he forced Ant into wild contested 3s late in the shot clock, along with a key block and steals. He even realized that his 3-point shooting was not going to win them the game today, so even after he made one, he stopped taking them and tried to help the team win in other ways. The scoring was great, the rebounding was amazing, and the passes were good too. But at one point you could see Jokic lose trust in his teammates. He started taking contested shots, and while he made a bunch of them, there were also people wide open around the arc. I honestly do not blame Jokic for not passing because earlier in the game none of them were able to hit those shots. Murray honestly has been the most inconsistent player since Jokic has been back, and I think it is mostly mental, which is both a good thing and a bad thing. He is able to get to his spots but was unable to hit shots earlier in the game. I really do not know what is wrong with him because I have never seen him struggle mentally like this. At times I see the All-Star player who refuses to go down without a fight, and today he just felt like another role player getting a bunch of shots. I know Murray is an amazing basketball player and I know he has it in him, but I am starting to lose hope as the games go by. Role players, role players, role players. I am not going to touch on Braun or Hardaway because they did their job, and I also want to give props to Jalen Pickett, who played great coming off injury. Honestly, huge props to him. Other than Jokic, he was the MVP for the Nuggets even though he played so little. But everyone else, oh my god. Cam Johnson, when you are not hitting shots, that does not mean you can be a liability everywhere else on the court. Missing shots is one thing, but giving the other team a free and-1 or committing bad fouls makes the game so much worse. Honestly, I think Adelman should rest him for a game or two because these last two games make it look like he has the opponent’s money line. Valanciunas, please understand your role because it is not that hard. Slow the game down, play defense, and rebound. I swear, if I see Jokic check out one more time and two minutes later the Nuggets are calling a timeout, I am going to lose it even more than I already have. Adelman, I get that this game is not completely on you. Your players did not hit 3s and you cannot play Jokic 48 minutes. But what I do not understand is how you lose seven timeouts before the fourth quarter is halfway over when yesterday you had two left at the end of the game. I know coaching this team is hard because you are so reliant on players, but you are paid millions of dollars to figure it out. Overall, a disgusting game from the Nuggets, and it is honestly making me rethink writing these. I ran 15 miles during the game and still put more effort into this than some of the players put into the game, and it is sad. Three-point shooting used to be a strength of this team and it is starting to become a weakness, and I hate it. We need to get PWat and Gordon back, not just because it will make us better, but hopefully because it will save us from ourselves. Anyone saying the Nuggets had a better record without Jokic is either baiting or does not understand basketball. Please, if you genuinely think this, look at the scores of those games and who they played. If you still think it after that, you need more mental help than me. GG Wolves.
