Amnesty International Zimbabwe
Journalist Gideon Madzikatidze, employed by Bulawayo24, has now spent over 70 days in pre-trial detention since his arrest on 18 February. He faces charges of “cyberbullying” and “broadcasting without a licence” in connection with an article alleging bribery by a local business. The continued detention of a journalist for their work raises serious concerns about the protection of the right to freedom of expression and media freedom in Zimbabwe. Authorities must respect, protect, and fulfil the right to seek, receive, and impart information. Authorities must not use licensing regulations and cybercrime provisions to censor, intimidate, or criminalise legitimate journalism. #JournalismIsNotACrime

We were camped on the plain along the Sengwa, where my grandfather, a hunter of quiet renown, had set up temporary shelter. He was a butcher of antelopes! We kept our livestock close, trusting the vantage and enjoying the good life. But abundance is a beacon: the same herds that fed us drew predators from every shadow. That day luck had left us. A pride of lions had been spotted not far off, and we would not risk turning the animals out to graze. But then, someone's goat had been taken by hyenas. Too bad for the hyenas: the family that owned the dead goat had a crowd of hungry, easily angered men, veterans of many struggles. I always thought they were a touch entitled. So they resolved to drive the scavengers away. The crowd had to pass through our home. Never before had I heard such shouts and chanting. They were pumped up. My father and his brothers seized the moment and decided to lead the troop. What looked like a leap of courage was really a quiet calculation: they needed this large, noisy crowd (which we didn’t have) to chase the lions away. The strategy was simple and brilliant: use the urgency of the goat, a rallying cause the brave and safe cared about, to push the more dangerous threat out of our territory. Carefully, the troop was led to the place where the lions were. The lions, unsettled by the many-voiced advance, slipped away. We were safe, and the crowd soon made short work of the hyenas. Everyone was satisfied. That day taught me how other people’s causes can be turned into leverage: align urgency with numbers, move with intention, and use momentum to resolve problems larger than the one that started it. You need to make circumstances work for you. Don’t let a good crisis slip away.

@DBE_SA @Siviwe_G @ReginahMhaule @HubertMweli The challenge comes when rules change after the adjudication process. When recommended books are not put on the catalogue and when instead of one book per grade per subject then another book is added. This is from my 2015 experience.

🔸I pray for peace between the peoples of South Africa and Zimbabwe - and indeed among all Africans residing in South Africa and throughout the continent. We share the bonds of a painful, oppressive past. It behoves us all to create a united future built on freedom, ethical leadership and opportunity for all. We need new leaders.🇿🇼

Imagine being a war veteran in Zimbabwe, long retired from the army, living in poverty, and in your 70s, you’re given a bicycle in recognition of your sacrifice for Zimbabwe! Meanwhile, a self-seeking opportunist from the opposition says a few words in praise of the President for installing a borehole - a BOREHOLE - in her very urban constituency in the country’s capital city, and she’s rewarded with a top of the range vehicle that costs the equivalent of at least 15-20 such borehole schemes! This is how rotten the state of Zimbabwe is under Emmerson Mnangagwa and his Zvigananda cartel! There is nothing in the National Interest about #CAB3, and everyone who is supporting this nonsense is an insider - or hopes to be - with access to this feeding trough that this mafia controls!

This proves to me time and again that hard work does not pay in Zimbabwe. You were paid to bash another man. You were bribed to besmirch the Vp. Basically you were given easy money, not from your blood, sweat and tears. Money to just sit and type nonsense. In a functional Zimbabwe Temba you would starve to death, you'd fail to feed your brood of children. Smh

Good afternoon citizens. My heart is bleeding. There is a sister who is mentally unwell in Bulawayo CBD. I've seen her four times now. I noticed that her hand is swollen and its only today that I took a closer look. Apparently she has a plaster on her arm. Seems it is overdue to be removed or something. I also noticed that its attracting flies meaning its an infection. So I was wondering if there are any doctors and well_wishers who are able to assist this lady. How much is consultation, some medication maybe and to see what's needed. Maybe we can crowd fund so that she gets help. What saddens me is that we don't have social welfare that assists the vulnerable, the disabled, the mentally ill, orphans and the old age. Its breaks my heart that our government is busy with Constitution ammendment, buying of the state of the art cars when there is no social security. What kind of a society are we when we neglect our people like this? How many others are there out there facing the same predicament? Please to any doctor seeing this please reach out to me. Then we will take it from there to make sure our sister gets help. She is always by Bulawayo centre or by Farm and city next to Haddon and sly. My DM is open. Let's lend a hand to those who can not help themselves. God bless.

Even Pablo Escobar built schools, clinics, homes and funded education for the people in his favela. These corrupt goons in suits are buying state of the art cars & flying in jets with our hard earned taxes. Dammit! We've not forgotten about CAB3. We are watching you closely like hawks.
