Here are six ways to make Australian education more inclusive with smarter tech assisted use of student centred data and funding. I’d love to know what you think. theguardian.com/australia-news…

@jk_rowling @FemCondition But why do you continue to speak against a group of people who are subjected to so much pain by the world already. You’re an instrument of torture for folk who are just trying to be who they are. Your cruelty astounds me.

@FemCondition None of us has the right to compel another person’s speech or belief. You’re free to think and speak as you like. So am I. Men are free to try and look female, or act according to their male idea of what a woman is. Women are free to disagree that those men have become women.

When you tell a woman she must pretend a man is a woman, you’re asserting the right to control her speech and perception of reality, while also trivialising and devaluing her female-specific experience. You’re asking her to agree that ‘woman’ is a concept men can embody at will.

Misgendering is cruel and rude, no matter how many edge cases or straw man arguments people can come up with to try to assert otherwise.

@anthroprofhage Important reflexivity- I always find I need more than Bourdieu to undestand the affective until I think of care as a practice.

outrageous and unacceptable, rather, than ‘ah well, this is how it is.’ I wanted to hear it even though I knew that it was indeed ‘unsurprising.’ I reflected on the fact that maybe I needed to hear that it was surprising just for my own psychological well-being. But I wondered to

Surprised, Outraged and Can’t Understand What is Going On I used to have a ritualistic argument with my partner concerning her affective politics. Whether she is talking about coal mining, abortion, Zionist colonialism or opposition to bike lanes in the city, she always expresses

Just read through the government’s DRC response and pretty underwhelmed especially after they have had 10 months to do this. Little new money, lot of reannouncing, lot of buck passing and real missed opportunity for some meaningful change.

This seems a very low price to pay for all that ‘free’ academic labour. Will there be algorithms that rank peer reviewed content above other sources, I wonder?

@hattdesigns I support this, Matt. The divisions of diversity are created by humans. The more rigid our expectations of normative are the more harmful our systems of policing then become. The time and communication that foster have become privileges. Love your work towards changing this.

👀A couple of weeks old, but I thought this article clearly (in plain language) presented the reasons why we are seeing increases in autism and ADHD diagnosis as opposed to false narratives around fashionable trends, vaccines or other thought bubbles: theguardian.com/society/articl…

@TobyWalsh I agree- but there also needs to be consideration of how young people can organise and find community and voice. For some people the spaces created are important life lines.

New piece and some new theoretical perspectives. The care students provide for each other is really important to nurture. Helping International students help seek for themselves and others in Australian Uni’s should be supported.
